Dubai Dream of Green Energy

Dubai Dream of Green Energy

Dubai aims to produce 75 % of its energy requirements from clean sources by 2050 and #Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park is one of key projects to achieve this aim

The largest solar project covers 77 square kilometers and is located about 50 kilometers south of Dubai.

As of recent updates, the park supports various clean energy initiatives with a planned total capacity of 5,000 megawatts (MW) by 2030. This includes both photovoltaic (PV) and concentrated solar power (CSP) technologies, making it a significant contributor to Dubai's renewable energy goals

As per DEWA, 900MW (fifth phase in row) phase of the solar park using photovoltaic panels became fully operational in June 2023. ?The AED 2-billion project, implemented based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model. This is one of its first kind in middle east

DEWA achieved a world record by receiving the lowest bid of $1.6953 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh).

The fourth phase of the solar park, which uses concentrated solar power, set another world record with a levelized cost of electricity of 7.3 cents per kWh for 700 MW of CSP.

The park incorporates state-of-the-art technology, including the use of autonomous robots to clean solar panels, ensuring efficiency and optimal performance.

DEWA has launched the Dubai Green Fund to finance green projects, encouraging private sector investments in renewable energy. Dubai Green Fund is another step that will ensure this project will be available for future generations

A mix of solar nuclear and gas will take Dubai to minimum carbon footprint in the world.

Dubai aim of clean energy also includes development of human resource, education and research to make project sustainable for future generations
