Dual Train Vertical Bed System

Dual Train Vertical Bed System

The Chisholm Creek Water Treatment Plant in Oklahoma City needed an effective and low-cost solution to address the high levels of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and other sulfur compounds causing odors during sewage processing. To avoid high-maintenance options like chemical or wet scrubbers, PureAir recommended a Dual Train VBS-720 system combined with Sulphasorb FeXL? and Sulphasorb XL? adsorbent media.

The VBS-720 system, designed for limited maintenance, handles high airflow volumes with significant H2S saturation. Sulphasorb FeXL?, a 50/50 blend of Sulphasorb XL? and Sulphasorb Fe?, can remove 45% of its weight in H2S and serves as a roughing filter. PureAir custom-manufactured a system with two VBS-720 scrubbers: the first unit's 3-foot media bed contains 560 cubic feet of Sulphasorb FeXL?, and the second unit's 420 cubic feet of Sulphasorb XL? act as a polishing scrubber.

The custom-engineered units and high-performing media significantly reduced maintenance and costs while achieving 99.99% odor removal efficiency. This solution effectively eliminated escaping odors, improving the environment for workers and the surrounding community.
