After a slower June, the Belardi Wong survey of DTC sales shows a surprising upswing in July 2023 ecommerce sales. Here's what you need to know about the survey results:

• July 2023 ecommerce sales were up +4% YOY.
• There was +10% increase in sales for apparel followed by a +8% increase in sales for shoes and accessories.
• Home decor was down -5% in 2023 overall.
• The survey indicated that sales have been concentrated around promotional holidays such as Prime Day, which particularly drove sales in apparel.
• Retailers like Macy's Nordstrom and Walmart had a slow June and July this year, but bright spots revolved around back-to-school shopping for kids' clothes.
