Letter 3: A Journey of Love, Diversity, and Gratitude as a DSS Mom

For much of their lives, I’ve been both mom and dad to my daughters, leading me to embrace a somewhat unconventional upbringing. As a DSS (Dual Single Parent) mom, I’ve cultivated a culture centered on inclusivity, diversity, celebrating every milestone, big or small, with an open heart and a grateful spirit and cherishing every step of their journey, no matter how small.

At present, my children are individually navigating the world differently, but their uniqueness only adds to the richness of my life and the people’s lives around them.

Letter 6: Finding Strength in Self-Love: Melodie’s Reflection as a DSS Mom

Giving love is feasible once you have enough love for yourself. Being a mom is very challenging, and no two moms have the same circumstances in life. Every mom is unique in her own way of being MOM.

As a DSS mom, I appreciate myself for everything I carry through so far - from the littlest thing like having slack time on a Sunday night or having playtime and chat time with my kids.

I still have a long way to go, but I already gone a long way now. For my kids, I am more than enough. For myself, I am enough.

Juggling between work and being a mother, it is really a challenge and a struggle, but I came to realise that I am creating milestones in my personal life and that I can do more.

From bright screens to bright smiles, holding a mouse and typing with keyboards to holding tiny hands, and sitting down on this office chair to sitting down on the floor – that’s everyday of #workingmomlife for me. I couldn’t ask for more, I couldn’t complain because at the end of the day I receive the powerful hugs and kisses from my children.
