Dscoop Phoenix 2017 and "Tu-Bishvat"

In the coming days in Israel we will be celebrating “Tu Bishvat”. A Jewish agricultural holiday celebrating the beginning of fruiting on edible fruit trees. The start of a new agricultural year.

On “Tu-Bishvat” it is still winter, cold and gray, but the new buds and bloom on trees everywhere carry a hidden promise of a new harvest. That prospect of a new fruits harvest is definitely a good reason for celebration.

“Tu-Bishvat” is not just about the current harvest but also about planning and preparing for future ones. Securing the immediate harvest was important for one’s immediate survival. Securing future harvests was critical for one’s continuity. The solution to that was, and still is, easy. Secure future harvests by planting their seedlings now.  For trees, that is seven years in advance.

Securing the immediate harvest was important for one’s immediate survival. Securing future harvests was critical for one’s continuity.

More than two and a half millennia have come to pass since these traditions were formed and set. Agriculture nowadays is modernized and done by professionals. Most people see the new harvest only in stores and not on the trees.  But still it is a good opportunity to get together and celebrate the new harvest with family and friends.

Some traditions and customs set “Tu-Bishvat” as the transition point from one year to the next. And as any other calendric New Year,” Tu-Bishvat” is a good time to reflect. What have we managed to accomplish and what is yet to come.

For me, no doubt, this was a year to remember. It was an amazing “Drupa year”. with sales outperforming our plans. Followed by successful execution of the installations. The result was one of the best peak seasons for our customers. A true harvest.

For me the best part about Drupa was the constant engagement with customers, prospects and partners.  The meetings we had provided us insights. And allowed us to learn where we can do better, and what else we can do to help our customers be even more successful. New technology seeds were set in those conversations and some are already germinating in our labs as a result.

Being an R&D guy I can say on a personal level that seeing our ideas and dreams transform into laboratory demonstrations and evolve through hard work into successful working products is one of the reasons I gladly go to work every day.

DSCOOP NA, like “Tu-Bishvat”, is just around the corner.

It happens that DSCOOP NA, like “Tu-Bishvat”, is just around the corner. In less than three weeks I will be meeting customers, partners and brand owners in Phoenix Arizona. We will be discussing new ideas and growth opportunities, and celebratie the bloom and harvest of past efforts.

I hope to see you there. Now is the time to prepare for the next harvest.
