The DRS Newsletter - Issue #7
Welcome to the latest DRS newsletter! It's been a while since the last one and we've been very busy here at DRS, so we've got a lot to cover from the last couple of months.
VM guide
It wouldn't be a DRS newsletter without a new guide to go along with it!
Our latest guide - which covers the VM CSA - is the biggest and most comprehensive one we've ever created, and you can read it for free!
You can read the full guide as an interactive flipbook on our website . If you'd like your own copy, you can either fill in this form or get in touch with our Director Michael Beaton and we'll send you a copy.
AI event
Back in May we hosted an event at our London office exploring some of the core principles of Gen AI and how it might be applied to legal risk management.?The session was full of insightful discussions (and excellent questions…) on a range of topics - understanding what AI is, where it can add value, the challenges and costs of AI, as well as the ways in which AI could impact the legal space in the future.
We'd like to thank everyone who attended the event, as well as our Director Michael Beaton and Chief Technology Officer ???? Paul Hands for running the event!

ISDA AGM
In April, our director Rallie Shiderova took part in this year's ISDA AGM in Tokyo. Here's what Rallie had to say about her experience at the event:
When I first arrived in Tokyo, I did feel a bit like ‘Lost in translation’…with the cherry blossoms, temples, and overall atmosphere of zen, it felt like I am in a fairy tale… or that might have been the jetlag. When it comes to the ISDA AGM, they are always events worth going to. This year in Tokyo was no different. It was fantastic to experience completely new culture in a familiar environment amongst colleagues and friends. The conference was full of exciting discussions around the update to the 1998 FX and Currency Option Definitions, Digital Regulatory Reporting, Basel III, US Treasury Securities Clearing, geopolitical risks, the future of carbon credits, initial margin and the Japanese financial market. The interesting thing was that centre stage of all conversations was the implementation of digital solutions, including CDM, CreateiQ 2.0, the ISDA Notice Hub and our very own Ark 51. It so happened that I had a seat at the panel covering exactly this topic which I believe, and was told, was very helpful to the audience. I look forward to continuing the many conversations that were opened during the conference, starting new ones with anyone who is interested in the topics discussed above, and of course, to going back to Tokyo at the next possible opportunity.

The DRS Journey at 15
May 2024 marked 15 years since DRS was founded, and our director David Sargen took the opportunity to reflect on our journey up to this point.
You can read his full post on 15 years of DRS at this link .
In other news...
Let's take a look at everything else that's been going on at DRS over the last few months.
Client visits, cocktail mixing, knowledge sharing and a charity dog walk
While we're being reflective, our Operations Director Alexandra Devenport (Cihlar) posted her thoughts on a very busy June at DRS which included, amongst other things, hosting legal teams and front office members of one of our clients in Newcastle, a meet and greet with our negotiators in London and a very cute charity dog walk raising money for Dogs Trust .
Take a look at her post below to see what we got up to last month!
London Legal Walk
Members of our London office also took part in the London Legal Walk to raise funds for the the London Legal Support Trust !
Goodrich School Fun Run
We were delighted to once again sponsor the Goodrich School Fun Run in May. It's always a very well-supported event and this year's sunshine brought out runners - children and adults - in their hundreds for a circuit of Peckham Rue Park.
DRS is really pleased to play a part in this event again this year even if David Sargen ’s knee could only really manage helping with medals this year!
All funds provided by sponsors and through the event itself go to support Goodrich School and particularly additional trips, equipment and facilities for the children.
Northumbria Uni visit
Last but not least, back in April we welcomed some Law students from Northumbria University into our Newcastle office last week for an introduction to DRS, an office tour and some networking.
That's a wrap on this issue of the DRS newsletter! Thank you as always for reading and stay tuned for more updates on what we've been up to at DRS.
