Chromebooks have taken over the number 1 position for endpoint devices within education. There's many reasons for this including, low cost, speed and security. But what if you wanted to access an application that was written for Windows, and there was no Google equivalent?

Are those apps able to directly and natively interact with local interfaces ? A Network Scanner.exe that needs access to the same local Ethernet subnets as the NIC ? An exe that needs to program an RS232 using a USB-Serial adapter?
