Alongside this year’s 79th convening of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City, the Milken Institute partnered with Invest Africa US to convene Africa at an Inflection Point, an action-driven investor symposium focused on how to best spur investment and growth in times of geopolitical, fiscal, and democratic uncertainty. The event also addressed the importance of strengthening Africa's partnerships with the rest of the world. The investor symposium featured a fireside conversation with Aliko Dangoté, Founder, Chairman, and CEO, Dangote Group, Mark Tatum, Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Commissioner, National Basketball Association (NBA), and Michael Milken, Chairman, Milken Institute, as well as remarks from His Excellency Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, Cabinet Minister and Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, United Arab Emirates. Additionally, British Robinson, Coordinator, Prosper Africa moderated a high-level investor panel featuring Runa Alam, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Development Partners International (DPI), Seun Salami, Chief Financial Officer, Nuveen, a TIAA company, and Amadou Hott, Former Special Envoy of the President for the Alliance for Green Infrastructure in Africa, African Development Bank Group (AfDB). This dynamic discussion delved into why now is the time to be investing in Africa, how to navigate risk and in return spur innovation, growth and investment. This convening furthered the work of the Milken Institute's ongoing Africa Strategy, which centers around catalyzing investors and entrepreneurs to help build Africa's brightest future through resilient and inclusive economies that can advance sustainability, health, and shared prosperity. #MIGlobal #unga2024 #unitednations #MIAfrica
