Drones and Photography
Drones have been integrated into many professions. The possibilities are endless and will continue to grow. I use my drones for photography and videography, and I have incorporated the use of drones into my photography workflow.?
After the initial let me take high altitude photographs wears off, I have found that mid to low altitude is generally the best and produces stunning results.?
Is the skillset the same? Yes and no. To use a drone for photography or videography, I needed to learn how to fly a drone, understand the rules and regulations, and also know its limitations.?
The technical aspect of photography whether using a DSLR camera or the camera on a drone is the same. Shutter speed, aperture setting, ISO setting, and time of day. Although time of day can be a little forgiving with drones.?
The one major benefit with drones is you can place the drone at almost any angle or position you want. I have found myself saying, if I can only get to that position I can compose the shot I want. Particularly over water. The drone allows me to try that angle.
In the end drones are not the be-all, and end-all for photographers, but they certainly are a useful tool and can compliment our photography. Just another tool in our toolbox.
