PitchInt: Sport Industry Espionage. A new discipline?

In the field of intelligence, various disciplines focus on the diverse sources from which intelligence can be derived. Some of them include:

• Humint (Human Intelligence): Gathering information from human sources, involving direct interactions, interviews, or espionage activities.
• OSINT (Open Source Intelligence): Collecting intelligence from publicly available sources, such as the internet, social media, and other open-access outlets.
• ELINT (Electronic Intelligence): Obtaining intelligence by monitoring and analyzing electronic signals, including communication intercepts, radar emissions, and electronic warfare.

Espionage, the non-lawful acquisition of information from a company in business, is an illegal activity. The sport industry is not free of this problem. A study based on 2012 data, shows that the share of sport-related?Gross Domestic Product within the EU is 2.12 % and amounts to € 279.7 bn. Furthermore, the share of?sport-related employment amounts to 2.72 % of total EU employment, so it makes sense for a criminal, to spy the sport companies.

The digital transformation has also affected industrial espionage, a criminal activity, replacing traditional spies with drones. A dron is better than a person, because it is expendable, cheap, but powerfull and intelligent. If Sun Tzu had known about drones, he would have cited them as a paradigmatic example of the spy figure.

Not only are the private lives of famous football stars targeted by spies hired by journalists, but also their training centers. Therefore, clubs must be aware of this serious risk, which poses a threat to the club's security, economy & reputation.Information
