Drones in Dundee

Between the Golf and the opening of the V&A, there has been a lot going on around Dundee over the summer. I've seen lots of posts containing videos of some of these events taken from UAVs or Drones. Whilst some of them are legal, sadly, many are not. Many of these Pilots will not have been properly trained, will not have Permission for Commercial Operations issued by the CAA, will not be properly insured and many contravene the Air Navigation Order 2016.
If you look at the Waterfront, many videos around the V&A and Slessor Gardens show people flying within 50m of roads and buildings that they are highly unlikely to have control over. They probably don't have permission from the landowner. They certainly don't have permission from Network Rail to fly within 50m of their infrastructure (this is almost impossible to get from their Air Ops team, even with enhanced CAA permission)
The worst thing unfortunately is that many public and private bodies promote these videos without any questions being asked of the legality of the flight. This encourages more people to have a go, compounding the problem.
And they wonder why more legislation is in the pipeline?
