For those in our audience with a ChatGPT Plus subscription, we have developed the Drone GPT and Droneii Data Explorer GPT as new tools to help understand the commercial drone market.

Approximately one year ago, at the start of 2023, we started hearing more and more about ChatGPT. By now all of us have surely heard of it, and many people even swear by it to help them get things done. Naturally, the Drone Industry Insights team has experimented with it to explore the commercial drone market more efficiently.

Between claims of drones "taking off" or "rising" and drone technology being a "new" thing that will "disrupt" and "revolutionize" industries, the platform has not been entirely helpful beyond the basics. It is clear that some of the data that it is trained on is already quite outdated or it is not entirely sure where to search for reliable information. When it comes to market data, it often ends up citing some of the more hyperbolic sources that claim it will be a market worth hundreds of billions by 2025 with an unrealistic CAGR of over 40%.

Thankfully, the latest release and the ability to create custom GPTs have allowed us to customize and train ChatGPT so that it is a bit more informed about drone technology and the drone market. This custom GPT is designed to navigate the Droneii website to find data, articles, and infographics. This means that rather than having to sort through a plethora of articles and infographics, users should be able to ask directly for information. Additionally, we will continue to make adjustments and upload some documents directly to make it easier for users to turn these insights into actionable data.

One very important thing worth mentioning is that the Drone Industry Insights Data Explorer GPT does not have access to Droneii's internal/proprietary databases (i.e. paid reports and consulting work). So there is little sense in trying to hack it as a shortcut to this type of data. Moreover, those without a GPT Plus account don't need to stress about signing up and paying for a subscription in the hopes that it will provide exclusive content. Nevertheless, the GPT should still prove to be a useful tool to sort through our insights and find the data that you are looking for to help your work and projects.

The purpose of the Drone GPT: The Commercial Drone Expert Consultant is update the responses of standard ChatGPT and to tailor them towards a more accurate understanding of the global commercial drone industry

As mentioned at the outset, ChatGPT has a tendency to provide hyperbolic insights or rely on outdated sources that don't provide a lot of useful information for the average drone industry professional. Although this is admittedly an ambitious task, this GPT will be a continuous work in progress to ensure that ChatGPT responses are less generic and more updated about the world of commercial drones.

For this mission, the Drone Industry Insights team is happy to receive some feedback and suggestions to keep improving the GPT. But one thing to keep in mind is that no matter how much effort we put into tinkering and tailoring the GPT, the Droneii team ultimately does not have control of the platform, and it may still provide some inaccurate or unhelpful responses. Nevertheless, we consider it to be a helpful tool and a unique opportunity to help bring a better understanding of the drone industry.
