Driving Targeted Traffic through Social Media

Driving Targeted Traffic through Social Media Makes Sense

One way to get more traffic is to get involved with Facebook Groups. There are lots of ways you can get traffic from Facebook Groups, and it is quite effective if you do it correctly. If you think about it, a Facebook Group is just a small community of like-minded people. Learning about driving targeted traffic through social media is a skill worth implementing.

This means that if you find like-minded people who need and want what you offer in a community, you’ll need to find a way to network with them and give them the information. However, there is a right way and a wrong way. Let’s discuss this further.

There are two ways you can do this. You can join groups that other people started that consist of your ideal audience. Secondly, you can start your own groups to attract different segments of your ideal audience. Let’s begin with the idea of going to other people’s groups and promoting your website to get traffic.

Other People’s Groups

It’s imperative that you follow the rules that any group owner creates. You don’t need to actively promote in a loud way in a group to get traffic. Instead, the best way to approach someone else’s group is to socialize, answer questions, and be of service to your audience. Don’t share links if it’s not allowed, don’t say “DM me and I’ll help you.” Help them in any way that you can freely and openly. If it takes a minute, and it’s going to pay off for a long time, it’s more than worth it. I always think of the phrase “be a resource before you’re a vendor” with this strategy.

Ensure that your Facebook Profile is not private. This is probably something that makes you nervous, but if you’re going to use Facebook Groups as your way to get more traffic, you’ll need to allow people to see your business website in your profile so that when you comment and impress people, they can click your name and find your website and business information.

Driving Targeted Traffic through Social Media with Your Own Groups

The best way to use Facebook Groups to increase your traffic is to start your own group. You can start as many groups as you want to attract your audience. In your group, you make the rules. The best way to set it up is to set it up as a Closed Group. That way the discussions are private, and your audience will feel safer to speak up. I have a Facebook group that helps people build a list using private label rights (PLR) content you may wish to check out.

Then, set up a freebie (lead magnet) just for the people who join. You can set up your group to ask questions of those who want to join in order to approve them and qualify them for the group. Then you can pin a welcome post for them that includes a link to a freebie that requires an email address to download. The freebie should meet the requirements for a lead magnet, which include solving a problem quickly for your ideal audience.

It’s super important to grasp that people don’t go on Facebook to buy things. They don’t want to be sold. Therefore, you must approach things differently. Use FB groups to build your email list and push traffic to your site by sharing your blog posts, curated content, and offers. Don’t use it to SPAM people with a continued barrage of sales without any substance.

Driving Targeted Traffic through Social Media with Social Sharing

One way to build traffic is to allow the visitors to your site to do it for you. You can do that by including at least one social sharing plugin that gives your audience a one-button-click way to share your content.

What is a Plugin?

A plugin is really a program or application or software that adds functionality to a WordPress or other type of site builder. For this article’s purposes, we are discussing only WordPress plugins. You can find approved plugins at the WordPress.org website. Anything you want your site to do that it can’t do now is something that plugin might fulfill. Just search for ideas.

How to Install a Plugin

Installing a plugin is not difficult but always read the directions. For the most part, you can install any plugin from your dashboard in a few clicks. Then you can set up the new plugin via your dashboard too. Sometimes, a plugin may require upgrading and paying to get it to work fully.

Which Plugins Should I Get?

Here are a few plugins that might work for you. Before using the plugin, read all the information and details about it. Ensure that it’s been kept up to date and that it will work with your version of WordPress plus that your theme will work with the plugin and that it plays nice with the other plugins you already have.

You don’t need two plugins that do the same thing. You really want fewer plugins than more plugins. Therefore, think about the functionality you want, and find one that does it. Don’t add more than one at a time. Add one plugin, and then check out your site and make sure everything works before adding another. For social sharing, there are many plugins. These are some favorites…

Shared Counts – This plugin will let you automatically insert buttons before and after a blog post or “post” content. Any content you put on the blog page will be considered a post page. You’ll use a shortcode to insert them. (https://wordpress.org/plugins/shared-counts/)

Yoast – Yoast is run by creator and software designer Joost de Valk and is a very powerful plugin that will do a lot for your site including helping you improve all your SEO and not just social sharing. It’s a good choice of a plugin that works, stays updated, and offers a lot of functionality that you need for good SEO. (https://yoast.com)

Add This – This is a free option that provides a lot of share buttons, follow buttons, enables list building, and more. You want to check this one out if you have a small budget since it’s free. It still works well and will do what you need. (https://www.addthis.com/)

These sharing buttons help your audience share your content easier. You can even share it easy by using the buttons too after each time you publish new content. Don’t forget to include a call to action to your audience to click the “button” below or above. People become blind to buttons and banners if you don’t point them out.

These methods and strategies to grow your business work, as I and many other six and seven figure business owners can attest. Give them a try and let me know what other questions you may have about entrepreneurship and marketing.
