Driving Hope with Mount Sidley Summit

Driving Hope with Mount Sidley Summit

At Liberty, we strive to help South Africans secure their financial future. We understand the importance of having products such as savings or Life and Disability Cover, so that you can always safeguard your family’s future.

Since many South Africans do not have this opportunity, I have partnered with Liberty and Bata to help give back to our community – to do our little bit, with the help of you, my Liberty colleagues. Liberty has partnered with Bata in recent years with this purpose in mind, as the manufacturers of Toughees school shoes, Bata has been integral to their ongoing annual shoe drive for children in need.

New shoes are something we tend to take for granted, we spend hundreds or even thousands of Rands on a new pair. We might forget that there are thousands of people who can’t afford these simple items. We need your help in raising funds to buy school shoes for South African children who need them.

I am taking my contribution a little further and I need your support to make this possible.

As an avid life-long mountaineer, I have endured below freezing weather, dangerous climbing conditions, and challenged myself physically, mentally and emotionally. I have summited the world’s highest mountain peaks with man hauls to the North and South Poles and climbed six of the seven highest volcanoes on each continent.

My next climbing expedition is to summit Mount Sidley in January 2020, it is the highest volcano in Antarctica at 4 281 metres and will be the final climb to complete the Volcanic Seven Summits. If successful, I will be the first South African to complete the Explorers Grand Slam and the Volcanic Seven Summits.

As I work to achieve this incredible climbing triumph, I am challenging you to help me drive hope for Liberty’s initiative to raise school shoes for those in need. My climb on Mount Sidley will help to raise awareness for this meaningful cause to allow children to access their right to education.

You can join my journey by taking up Liberty’s Drive Hope challenge and donating to this worthy cause.

Keep an eye on my LinkedIn page for all my preparations, challenges, motivational insights and successes, as well as photos and videos from the journey to Mount Sidley’s summit.

If you are a Liberty employee, adviser or IFA, and want to donate towards our #DriveHope initiative, click here and capture your details. Donations will be deducted off your commission statement in the New Year.

If I can persuade SARS to give you an additional R10,000-R30,000 a year…would you be interested?
