Driving the EV Revolution for Fleet Sustainability

Driving the EV Revolution for Fleet Sustainability

The LA Auto Show and Speaking with Automotive News

This year at the Los Angeles Auto Show, I had the privilege of sharing the spotlight during Automobility's media day with Todd Carlson , the Principal Manager of Transportation Services at Southern California Edison, and Cara Merriman , the Vice President of Corporate Development at Inspiration Mobility. It was a fantastic opportunity to not only unveil the all-new upfitted Silverado EV Work Truck for SCE, but also to highlight how GM is leading the way in electrifying company fleets.

Before taking the main stage, I had the chance to sit down with Jamie Butters from Automotive News Daily Drive podcast to discuss our collaboration with Southern California Edison, which is deploying over 280 Silverado EV WTs into its fleet. We also touched on California's EV regulations and GM Envolve's comprehensive suite of business solutions, including the EV Starter Kit. It was a great conversation highlighting the future of fleet electrification and how GM is driving sustainable change across industries.

A Game-Changer for the Future of Work and Sustainability

The unveiling of the all-new Silverado EV Work Truck (WT)—an all-electric powerhouse built from the ground up—was undoubtedly the highlight of the show. We orchestrated a grand entrance for the Silverado EV, and I couldn’t think of a better soundtrack than Electric Feel by MGMT—it perfectly matched the energy and innovation of the All-Electric Silverado EV.

The truck made its entrance with a bold, dynamic stand that highlighted its rugged durability and purpose-built technology for zero-emission performance. What made the moment even more special was having our customer, Todd Carlson, in the front driver’s seat, embodying our commitment to putting the customer at the center of everything we do. This was more than just an unveiling; it was the perfect opportunity to showcase the full scope of the project and celebrate our shared vision for the future of electric work trucks.

Leading the Charge in Sustainability and Supporting the Customer on their Journey.

The introduction of the Silverado EV WT is a pivotal component of SCE’s broader strategy to enhance air quality, support California’s ambitious clean energy goals, and achieve its net-zero emissions target by 2045. Our Account Executive, Joe Rigonan , along with the GM Envolve team, has been working closely with SCE from the outset—gaining a deep understanding of their objectives, closely monitoring vehicle performance, and fostering a collaborative partnership throughout the process. This partnership has been incredibly rewarding and stands as a true testament to what GM Envolve is all about—putting the customer first!

A Partnership for the Future

The collaboration with Southern California Edison is a shining example of how utilities and automakers can work together to address some of the biggest challenges in transportation. By deploying over 280 all-electric Silverado EV WTs, SCE is taking a significant step towards achieving its vision of a zero-emissions future—and we are proud to be a key partner in that transformation.

As we look to the future, the Silverado EV WT combined with the customer centric approach of GM Envolve stands as a testament to the power of innovation, collaboration, and a shared commitment to sustainability. The journey to a cleaner, more sustainable future is just beginning, and we are ready to lead the way.

I’m proud to have had the opportunity to contribute to the launch of this groundbreaking truck, helping shape a cleaner, more efficient future for businesses like SCE across the Western Region and the communities they serve.

Together, we’re driving progress—one electric vehicle at a time.

Cody C. Having a work truck EV for local service providers and the charging solutions to complete will shortly become the new normal. More control on cost, better maintenance outcomes and savings will all align to make this happen. Congrats
