A Unique Experience...

I had the honour and pleasure to visit Brazil for the first time From 11th - 16th June with some amazing ambitious entrepreneurs from the UK from a variety of sectors on a Trade mission and meet other talented entrepreneurs from across the G20. This encompassed a visit to the British Embassy in Brasilia, and participation in the G20YEA Summit in Goiania. In addition to city visits to Sao Paulo, Florinapolis, Rio. It was truly memorable...

It began with a trip to Brasilia where we met Melanie Hopkins Deputy Ambassador at the British Embassy and members of her team where we given an overview of Inward and Outward Investment from UK to Brazil from a trade perspective.

This was followed by an insight into doing business in Brazil from an entrepreneur perspective. Preceded by individual introductions on our respective businesses to the Deputy Ambassador.

The sense of pride and broad smiles as we left the embassy were immense it gave us so much confidence and it set the tone for the rest of our time in Brazil we were collectively so grateful for the opportunity.

The UK delegation represented diverse sectors including AI Health, Edutech, Financial Services, ESG, Creative Industries and much more so it would be remiss of me not to mention the entrepreneurs who were part of this years UK delegation in 2024.

Led by our G20 YEA UK President Tommie Edwards FRSA (Tech1M) and myself G20YEA UK Sherpa Christopher Beckford (Creativo Oculus) the UK Delegation consisted of Jones Amegbor (PayAngel), Yomi Tejumola (Algomarketing), Lee McPherson (Heyr App), Magdalene Amegashitsi (Global Queens Community), Evans Matamisa (Centrier), Olivier Bacs (Bendi), Omotoyosi (Toyosi) Akinfemiwa FFA FIPA (Elizabeth Roberts Accountants), Antriksh Gautam (Myo Capital) Dee Burrowes (The M.I.N.D.S.E.T Strategists), Daniel Oyeduntan (Unyte Limited).

My job as G20 YEA UK Sherpa is to make our UK Entrepreneurs shine internationally which was made easy by the sheer talent on show

From the 12-14th June the UK Delegation met and participated in the annual G20 Summit in Goiania where we met over 400+ entrepreneurs from Brazil, Canada, France, Italy, India, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Spain, China, Turkey, Singapore, EU, Portugal, Argentina, Germany, South Africa and many more.

There were 71 presentations and panel discussions over the three days but it started with Industrial visits to Colombina, Digital Innovation Hub Goias, Nutriex and Piracanjuba, Planalto Caminhoes and more.

Summit Presentations were on a range of topics such as A.I. on the Global Scenario, What do entrepreneurs need to know?; How to use capital markets to increase profitability and reduce risks?. Opportunities for Development and growth in the female universe of investment and entrepreneurship, M&A as a tool for growth, Young Leadership from Latin America to South Africa.

The summit ended with the communique signing of the G20YEA leaders who collectively put forward the agenda or mandate for driving positive change for entrepreneurs across the G20YEA over the next 12 months.

For all the entrepreneurs within the G20YEA Summit it was immense pitching our businesses to each other, forming partnerships and collaborations and helping each other internationalise our respective businesses. We know growth can be achieved by expanding internationally and leveraging your domestic market success. As entrepreneurs we understand business is global so your business has to reflect this kaleidoscope of opportunity.
