Driving Dreams: The Journey of Jordan Tamaki at Porsche Centre Gold Coast

Meet Jordan Tamaki, one of Porsche Centre Gold Coast’s newest editions, whose journey from New Zealand to Australia has been fuelled by a passion for cars and a drive for excellence. Originally from New Zealand, Jordan made the move to Australia at the end of last year in pursuit of new opportunities and challenges, bringing with him two years of automotive experience and a deep love for the Porsche brand.

Having just started his second year apprenticeship at Porsche Centre Christchurch, Jordan's decision to join Porsche Centre Gold Coast was driven by a desire for growth and a change in scenery. "I had left Porsche Christchurch and I just called Bobby and said, If you can give me a job I’ll fly over now and that was that," Jordan explains. "They were just very different in how they were run, I wanted a change of scenery"

Since joining Porsche Centre Gold Coast, Jordan has embraced his role as an apprentice, eager to learn and grow within the company. "The apprenticeship is going well. I had to restart when I came to Australia" Jordan says. "It's definitely a lot different from what I was doing in New Zealand, but I'm enjoying the challenge. I like it here. It's cool."

One of the highlights of Jordan's apprenticeship has been the opportunity to work on and drive a variety of Porsche models, including the Taycan, which he describes as his favourite car to drive. "The Taycan is different from any other car," Jordan explains. "It's just a unique experience."

As for his dream Porsche, Jordan’s eyes light up when talking about the Carrera GT. “The Carrera GT, every day of the week. I’ll take that over any care in the world.” Jordan says. “I would love to take it around the Nürburgring in Germany, that would be cool.”

Looking ahead, Jordan has set ambitious goals for himself, including fast tracking his apprenticeship, and being awarded the Porsche Centre Gold Coast apprentice of the year. "I'd like to finish my apprenticeship in two and a half years," Jordan says. "I don't think anyone's ever done that before. That would be the goal."

Beyond his apprenticeship, Jordan’s passion for Porsche stems from his love of racing. “They are a very racecar oriented brand. They’re known for their race cars.” Jordan explains. “I’d like to move into motorsports once I’m qualified and have the experience to do racing mechanics.”

Outside his work at Porsche Centre Gold Coast, Jordan keeps busy with his passion for boxing, a sport he has been involved in for many years. "I box. So, that's pretty much most of my time between here and there's not much else," Jordan says. "I'd like to get a few fights this year, for sure."

As he continues to settle into his new role at Porsche Centre Gold Coast, Jordan is excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. "I'm just looking forward to learning as much as I can and hopefully progressing within the company," Jordan says. "It's a great place to work, and I'm grateful for the opportunity."

Jordan is a testament to the passion and dedication of the individuals who make up the Porsche Centre Gold Coast family. His journey from apprentice to Porsche aficionado is a testament to his love for cars and his commitment to excellence. As he continues to grow and develop in his role, Jordan is sure to leave a lasting impact on Porsche Centre Gold Coast and the automotive industry as a whole.
