Driving Change: The Stream City Qik Sets New Standards in Electric Vehicle Technology

Omega Seiki Mobility , a leading manufacturer of passenger and commercial electric vehicles (EVs), has joined forces with Exponent Energy , a pioneering rapid charging startup, to introduce a groundbreaking e-three-wheeler named Stream City Qik. This innovative vehicle boasts a remarkable feature: it can cover an impressive 126 kilometers on just a 15-minute charge, thanks to Exponent Energy's cutting-edge battery pack and rapid charging infrastructure combined with Omega Seiki Mobility's expertise in vehicle design.

Following rigorous testing on Indian roads for a year and a half, Arun Vinayak , Co-founder and CEO of Exponent Energy, revealed that the battery of the Stream City Qik can endure over 3,000 charging cycles before exhibiting any signs of degradation. This durability ensures long-term reliability and performance.

The introduction of fast-charging capabilities is expected to revolutionize the driving experience by significantly reducing downtime during charging sessions, which typically range from two to five hours. Uday Narang , Founder and Chairman of Omega Seiki Mobility, emphasized that by minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency on the road, the Stream City Qik aims to translate every journey into tangible financial gains for drivers. The companies project that this vehicle will increase drivers' monthly income by at least 30%.

Priced at Rs 3.35 lakh ex-showroom (excluding EMPS subsidies), the Stream City Qik may appear slightly more expensive compared to other electric alternatives in the market. For instance, Bajaj's RE E TEC, offering a range of 178 kilometers per charge, is priced between Rs 3.07 lakh to Rs 3.17 lakh, while Piaggio's Ape e-city, featuring a swappable battery, ranges from Rs 1.95 lakh to Rs 2.85 lakh.

Despite the higher price point, the Stream City Qik distinguishes itself with its rapid charging capability and an impressive warranty of Rs 2 lakh kilometers or five years, whichever comes first. This warranty, according to the companies, offers users peace of mind and contributes to better financing terms, potentially reducing monthly EMIs.

Exponent Energy plans to expand its charging infrastructure by establishing 100 more charging stations across Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru, making fast chargers more accessible to users. Additionally, the vehicle comes with a standard charging point for slow charging at home, providing flexibility to drivers.

Omega Seiki Mobility has invested $5 million to set up production lines for the Stream City Qik in Faridabad and Pune. Moreover, the companies have collaborated with financial institutions and banks to offer affordable loans for purchasing the vehicle. They also hinted at potential collaborations in various other vehicle segments, demonstrating their commitment to innovation and sustainability in the EV industry.
