DriveNow boosts electric car sharing fleet in London with 20 more BMW i3s

Car sharing specialist DriveNow has boosted its fleet of BMW i3s in the Capital with 20 new vehicles.

The new i3s joins the existing 30 already being operated in North and East London and are being run alongside the firm’s existing pool of 240 BMWs and MINIs.

Joseph Seal-Driver, managing director of DriveNow UK, commented: “We’re delighted to be expanding our electric fleet, simply because Londoners love driving our BMW i3s. It’s a great starting point for customers who want to test out a top-of-the-range electric car on a pay as you go basis with no further commitments such as monthly fees or annual subscriptions.

The company – owned by BMW Group and Sixt SE – originally started off in Germany and now operates in nine cities across the world.

Cars are available for pick-up and drop-off anywhere in the boroughs of Hackney, Islington, Haringey and Waltham Forest and are priced at 39p per minute with unlimited mileage and no base fare.

The firm said it’s also planning to add more vehicles to its fleet in line with its plans for further expansion into additional London boroughs in the coming year.
