1) Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India in association with Hyderabad Traffic Police commemorates the 8th anniversary of the Traffic Training Park in Hyderabad

Fostering a culture of safe riding habits and responsible driving, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) and Hyderabad Traffic Police celebrated the 8th year anniversary of its Traffic Training Park at Goshamahal, Begum Bazar, Hyderabad.

The celebration was held in the August presence of Mr. G. Harish (Inspector of Police and in charge, Traffic Training Institute) along with representatives from Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India.

2) Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari will chair a meeting of Transport Ministers from all States and Union Territories (UTs) in New Delhi?

?Secretary (Road Transport & Highways), Senior Officers from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways Principal Secretary/ Secretary (Transport) & Transport Commissioners from States and UTs will also attend the meeting.

Road Transport plays a significant role in the development of our country, by ensuring smooth movement of goods & people, efficient functioning of economic activities, the cohesion of populations and propelling Country’s overall development.

Though the road transport sector has made incredible strides across all States and UTs, there is still tremendous potential to make a much larger and more meaningful impact.

3) Volunteers of Green Pencil Foundation along with Pune traffic police spread awareness of road safety measures

Road safety remains a pivotal concept in India as irrespective of the rules and regulations drafted, the implementation continues to fling around as a challenge. Undoubtedly, road safety remains a universal issue as commuters are rapidly increasing with excellent road connectivity developments.

Henceforth, it is a paramount contribution in society to be able to foreground people about the splurge to adhere strictly to the traffic rules.?

4) Trucks deliver road safety messages to drivers

The sides and backs of the trucks will display the Road Safety Commission’s latest campaigns, ‘Don’t drift off’ and ‘No one plans a crash’, to deliver important road safety messages where they are needed most - our regional roads.

Every year approximately two-thirds of the State’s road fatalities occur in regional areas and 2022 was no different, with 64 percent of people who died on WA roads, being killed in the regions.

Single vehicles crashing into an object, often a tree, were the most common type of crash, accounting for 48 percent of fatalities. While there are many factors that can cause a vehicle to leave the road, fatigue can and does play a role.

At 13 meters long, the trucks will be highly visible to regional drivers as they transport groceries and other essentials from Perth to the north of the State.

5) New WHO guide aims to boost the use of life-saving helmets for motorcycle riders

The World Health Organization [WHO] launched a new manual for authorities to increase the use of helmets for motorcycle riders today. The second edition of the Helmets Manual offers guidance to help leaders establish the laws, regulations, and actions needed to increase the use of safe, quality helmets to save lives.? Head trauma is the leading cause of death for motorcycle riders, and safe, quality helmets reduce the risk of death by over six times and brain injury by up to 74%. Yet the use of quality helmets in many low-and middle-income countries remains low, even as the number of motorcycles increases rapidly.??

‘As motorcycles proliferate at an astonishing rate, especially in low and middle-income countries, urgent action is needed to stave off a rapid rise in deaths and injuries in the coming years,’ said Dr Matts-Ake Belin, Global Lead for the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030 at WHO.

6) Ujjain District Road Safety Committee meet: E-rickshaws to have unique ID, GPS

A meeting of the District Road Safety Committee was held under the chairmanship of collector Kumar Purushottam in the meeting hall of the administrative complex building here on Tuesday.

During the review of traffic system in the city, the collector directed that the database of all e-rickshaw drivers in the district should be prepared in the next 15 days. A numbering system should be implemented on e-rickshaws.

Every e-rickshaw should be given a unique ID. All vehicles fitted with GPS should be linked to the control room of the Smart City Project.

7)Toll booth barriers to automatically trap motorists speeding over 120km per hour on Samruddhi

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Motorists exceeding the maximum permissible speed of 120km per hour on the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi expressway will now be caught at the exit points. A new overspeeding auto-detection system at the toll booths will help the authorities curb rash driving.
