Drishyam : Visuals are true, but perception may be deceptive

I am impressed with Georgekutty aka our own Lalettan in Drishyam ?? (Part 2 of blockbuster Malayalam movie Drishyam). A worthy weekend watch and a relief from routine.

Influence and inspiration have always been mutual between reel and real life. Beyond creativity, this movie is a recipe of imagination mixed with tact, information and luck favoured with time. We all can connect with George kutty (GK) perhaps at varying lengths and depths.

The intricacy of GK is his characterisation itself – meticulously crafted story of an emotional yet cunningly logical family man. While the first part talks about the extend he goes to hide a corpse to protect his family, second part gets into finer details of how he prepared himself in the event of a twist or a tragic outcome.

George Kutty is neither vulnerable nor gives into pressure to become vulnerable. This is immaterial of the fragility of situations.

It depicts the consequences of being vulnerable with a wrong person, however, trustable the subject may look like. Many of us would have experienced this in our lives.

Creating a story, living it, making others believe it and having them vouch for it is not a low art. Needs creativity, immense aesthetic sense and attention to details.

He is clear on his mission – to protect his family, to such an extent, he is ready to pay anything for it. Be it, the trauma, guilt and fear they live with every single day

He is a school dropout yet stays on top of new technology and advises his assistants to stay updated always.

He is strong in building connections, networking, maintaining it by all means and making it to his advantage, even without them knowing it. Isn’t this an age old art that only few can excel?

He knows whom to use for what purpose and how to harness their vulnerability yet staying strong to himself. Even though GK does not have all information, he clearly identifies people who can help him in his quest..Impressive..

He never underestimates the power of support staff.. be it a daily wager, security staff who are more influential and can get things done covertly, faster and efficiently than formal networks

GK learns a lot by observing his surroundings and connecting the dots. Always sharpening his mind.

Being knowledgeable is one thing, but sequencing it with impeccable clarity followed with meticulous actions takes it to next level. Which keeps GK always ahead of the game

Time heals things, but that should never get into the way of preparing for next worst thing

“You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.” And who knew this better than GK. ??

Finally, whether, George Kutty is real or not, logical or not, possible or not, is irrelevant, but his strategy works in a system with loop holes and for those whom we call "lucky", but are always prepared to meet any opportunities for good or bad. I would love to believe, GK has started preparing for his next challenge, in someone’s imagination..

It's amazing. I just watched it, I don't know the language but I loved it..thanks to subtitles. Waiting for making it in hindi. Man on personal mission and he knows how to achieve.
