The drinks trend everyone is talking about
Welcome back to our essential roundup of resources for hospitality professionals where we're celebrating that summer is… here? Never mind.
Though the British weather is taking it's time to arrive there are plenty of hot opportunities on our jobs board (and no, we're not sorry for that pun).
It’s also been a super busy month for both our permanent and temporary recruiters, with the team out at events up and down the UK and beyond.
Here’s some of the most interesting videos, reads and innovations from the world of hospitality we loved this month.
One Amazing Trend - Sessionable Spirits
Spirit brands are jumping on the sessionable trend as more and more consumers want lo and no drinks options.
This was one of the takeaways from the last Imbibe Live (before it returns in a new form as BCB London) with one panel session discussing how 74% of people are actively moderating their alcohol intake.
ICYMK, the term "sessionable" comes originally from the world of craft beer, referring to drinks of a lower ABV which you can drink for an extended session.
What does this mean for hospitality operators?
To meet this growing consumer demand, it's important to provide a wider range of drinks options pf varying ABV. Explore products like Quarter Proof and Session Spirit to create great lower proof cocktails, or wines like 6PERCENT.
Most importantly, it's about educating your team so that they can offer great lo and no recommendations to guests.

One Amazing Serve: Paper Plane Three Ways
Speaking of great cocktails, our Bar Services Manager Oscar threw together three unique variations of the Paper Plane cocktail in our latest bar series.
Flight to Montenegro
This twist on the classic Paper Plane switches Amaro Nonino for Amaro Montenegro.
25ml Lemon Juice
25ml Amaro Montenegro
25ml Bourbon
25ml Aperol
Dry shake (no ice) in a boston shaker, then add ice and shake again.
Double strain into a chilled coupe glass and garnish with four drops of angostura bitters. Divine.
Pro tip: to make this more "sessionable" reduce the ABV by switching Bourbon for an alcohol-free option like CleanCo.

One Amazing Innovation: It All Adds Up
Sustainable venue BMA House has released a "carbon calculator" to help you measure the impacts of your events.
Why we love it: we all want to do better at making our events more sustainable. But working out how to cut the carbon can get very complicated, very quickly.
An easy-to-use tool like this one to quickly measure your impact is a great start towards a more sustainable industry.
One Amazing Concept - Slow Living
What is it? Taking a slower, more mindful approach to all aspects of life.
See also - conscious consumerism.
Why should hospitality and events pros care? Well, the lifestyle has taken off in recent years, partly attributed to the pandemic. There are even hotels designed with the concept in mind.
How can hospitality pros adapt to this movement?
Many companies are already prioritising local ingredients and regional-specific dishes.
Another key step is educating your team so that they in turn can guide your guests on a culinary journey.
