Drinks Pitches Demos - Newsletter #1

Hi all,

As promised at last Wednesday’s Drinks Pitches and Demos, this is our first newsletter! And it’s about time!

After 5 years here’s DPD’s first recap of the monthly live event and of everything else that you need to know about what is happening in the Brainport Eindhoven startup and venture world. Interesting, entertaining, and important stories that you might have missed. Startup jobs you might be interested in. And a fine selection of startup and tech events.

Although we’re full of plans, ideas, and ambition, a brand name for this newsletter has yet to come. Please help us find one, so from next month, we can start to get used to it.

DPD News…? no, too formal. Brain(port)waves...? no, too cheesy. The Brain Community…? too far-fetched. DPD Network...? DPD Protagonists? DPD Love…?

 Anyway, it’s about people, five years already!

In the end, it's the people who make the difference. Processes, procedures, and facilities must be in order, but mutual cooperation must come first. Nobody can do it alone anymore. The last DPD edition (watch it here!) proved that again. Take for example Tom Sanders’ contribution. We know Tom from a year ago. He told us how, as an inventor, he went in search of customer-friendly solutions for breast cancer detection after his wife was diagnosed with this terrible disease. His impressive story at the time led to many reactions and new contacts. He updated us on what has happened since then.

By the way, many more DPD-veterans came along. We saw and heard Mark Menting (Smart Robotics), Nina Hoff (byFlow), Bas Zeper (Plasmacure), Wim Kees Janssen (Syntho), Marijn van der Poll (vanderPolloffie), and Arie van der Krans (Netherlands Patent Office). All with a reason: we celebrated our 5th anniversary so it was time to look back on several successes from that period. There was champagne, there was singing (unfortunately, no dancing this time), and there were many kind words. Thank you all!
