Drilling and Well servicing

  1. Signage and Flags: Erect signs and/or flags at the entrance of drilling and well servicing locations to highlight any specific hazards, such as H2S presence.
  2. H2S Certification: Prior to entering a Drilling & Workover (D&WO) site, it is imperative to possess a valid H2S certificate sanctioned by the relevant organizational body.
  3. Orientation Protocol: Upon arrival at the rig location, promptly report to the designated individual in charge for orientation procedures.
  4. Anchoring Practices: Adhere to industry-recommended practices for setting and testing anchors and guy lines to ensure stability and safety.
  5. High-Visibility Marking: Clearly flag or mark guy lines with high-visibility material to enhance visibility and prevent accidents.
  6. Emergency Escape Systems: Install independent escape systems on drilling derricks, enabling safe descent for derrickmen to the rig floor or ground during emergencies, following manufacturer specifications diligently.
  7. Safety Valve Accessibility: Ensure the availability of full-opening safety valves for all drill pipe sizes on the rig floor to promptly address any safety concerns.
  8. Surface Safety Valve Precautions: During well servicing operations, employ fusible caps or other suitable devices on remotely operated surface safety valves to mitigate potential risks.
  9. Pressure Ratings Compliance: All connections on the wellhead and tubing must possess a pressure rating exceeding the maximum treating pressure. Alternatively, utilize a tree saver to maintain safety standards.
  10. Equipment Placement: Maintain a minimum distance of 15 meters (50 feet) between service vehicles and equipment and the wellhead or processing equipment. Additionally, adhere to hot work permit requirements as stipulated in Safety Process 1: Hot Work Permit.
  11. Elevator and Cathead Safety: Strictly prohibit riding elevators and cathead lines to prevent accidents and injuries.
  12. Rig Floor Access: During perforating wireline and coil tubing operations, limit access to the rig floor solely to essential personnel to minimize risks.
  13. Simultaneous Operations Approval: Exercise caution and evaluate simultaneous operations for drilling and production locations/platforms on a case-by-case basis, ensuring thorough review and approval.
  14. Safe Pipe Handling: When removing pipe with S hooks, exercise caution to ensure S hooks remain engaged, and limit the pick-up to no more than four joints at a time.
  15. Tubular Handling Protocol: Roll all tubulars from the ends, refraining from using feet to roll tubular goods to prevent accidents and injuries.
  16. Chain Binder Safety: Stand off to the side and out of the "line of fire" when releasing chain binders to minimize the risk of injury from sudden movements.
