DRI Launches Strategic Plan 2025–2029 on World Digital Preservation Day
The Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) is delighted to announce the launch of our Strategic Plan 2025–2029, which outlines our commitment to safeguarding Ireland’s digital legacy. The Strategic Plan was launched on Thursday 7 November at the Royal Irish Academy as part of the global World Digital Preservation Day celebrations. The Strategy outlines our vision for the future, our commitment to the research and cultural heritage communities that we serve, and sets organisational goals in DRI’s priority areas of Digital Preservation; Innovation and Infrastructure; Open Access and Research; Education and Engagement; and Membership and Community. We are grateful to our members, end-users, and other communities who helped us to shape our vision during an extensive consultation process.
NORF Launches Ireland's National PID Strategy and Roadmap
On Friday 25 October 2024, the National Open Research Forum (NORF) launched Ireland’s National Persistent Identifier (PID) Strategy and Roadmap, Impact, Openness, Interoperability: Recommendations and Roadmap for an Irish National PID Strategy, during a meeting of the nineteen NORF-funded open research projects at the Royal Irish Academy .?The Roadmap is a major milestone in strengthening Ireland's research infrastructure.
New IQDA Collection in DRI
A new collection, ‘Restorative Justice: Strategies for Change – Ireland’, has been published in the Repository by the Irish Qualitative Data Archive (IQDA). This collection contains the first example of an archived project website to be preserved in the Repository for long-term access.
Irish Language Legacy Data Preservation Pilot Collections
Read about Logainm Sound Recordings and the Munster Women Writers Recovery Project, two new collections featuring Irish language material that were published through DRI’s Legacy Data Preservation Pilot, run in collaboration with Sonraí Irish Data Stewardship Network .
Web Archiving for DRI Members
In a new blog post, DRI Senior Software Engineer Kathryn Cassidy and DRI Digital Archivist Kevin Long highlight the web archiving service currently being offered to DRI members.

Dún Ailnne Excavation Archive
Read about the Dún Ailnne Excavation Archive collection published in DRI through the Legacy Data Preservation Pilot. The data in this collection comes from original archaeological excavations at the site of Dún Ailinne in Co. Kildare, which took place from 1968–1975.

Join DRI for a free?online training event on Tuesday 26 Nov at 15:00 GMT to learn about inclusive approaches to creating metadata and describing digital cultural heritage collections. This event is aimed at digital archivists, cultural heritage professionals, community archivists, curators, librarians, and all those interested in learning more about enriching archives through community engagement, participatory practices, and inclusive strategies. COLLECTION SPOTLIGHT
Asylum Archive
This month’s collection spotlight is the ‘Asylum Archive’ collection, published in the DRI repository through the support of the DRI Community Archive Scheme. Asylum Archive was established to collaborate with asylum seekers, activists, artists, academics, and immigration lawyers, amongst others, with a view to creating an interactive, documentary, cross-platform and online resource, critically foregrounding accounts of exile, displacement, trauma, and memory.? The collection preserved in the DRI repository includes forty-four assets documenting ‘emergency accommodation centres’ across the Republic of Ireland collected by artist, activist, and scholar Vuka?in Nedeljkovi?, a former resident of a Direct Provision Centre.
