While working counterintelligence in the military, Kevin Grummer created protection plans for critical infrastructure and information by evaluating threats from the enemy’s point of view. That experience allows him to approach asset, personnel, and information protection from a realistic and practical perspective.?

As site security manager for DRG’s Pacific Air Forces Ready Aircrew Program, Kadena Air Base in Japan, Grummer consistently seeks innovative ways to improve the security of DRG’s special access program facilities.?

“With a keen eye for detail, unmatched professionalism, and a proactive approach, Kevin has consistently gone above and beyond in ensuring our site’s security,” said DRG’s PACAF Program Manager Matthew “Boz” Beals. “His commitment to excellence, tireless work ethic, and ability to adapt to evolving security challenges make him a role model for the entire organization.”

He’s worked with the local program office and has successfully implemented cutting-edge technologies and procedures to enhance site security, making it more resilient against evolving threats. During an extended outage of the existing system, Grummer worked with the local security program office to develop an interim solution for an electronic badging system that provided stop-gap protection and monitoring.?

“When faced with unexpected security alarms and unbadged customers, Kevin has shown remarkable poise and effectiveness in managing crisis situations,” Beals said. “His ability to coordinate responses and mitigate risks has been instrumental in maintaining order and minimizing potential damage.”

Grummer has not only excelled in his individual responsibilities but has also displayed remarkable leadership within both the F-15C and E-3G instructor teams.?

“His ability to motivate and guide his colleagues has contributed significantly to the overall performance and cohesion of our small piece of the PACAF RAP contract,” Beals said. “Kevin serves as an inspiration to all of us, demonstrating that through diligence, leadership, and innovation, we can maintain a secure and thriving environment for our international employees and stakeholders.”

Grummer, who grew up in Washington state, retired from the U.S. Marine Corps after serving 12 years. His military service included combat tours in Iraq (2007 and 2009) and Afghanistan (2010 and 2012) as well as Force Protection in Japan, South Korea, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines (2015-18).

“I left the military to be present for my family, but I am glad I can still support my former family of warfighters through realistic training. I hope that I can continue to aid in improving their ability to train, learn, and keep us all safe,” Grummer said.

He and his wife, Sakurako, have two sons: Noah, 5, and John, 18 months. In his spare time, Grummer loves to go on adventures with his family.?

“We purchased a Class C RV this year and started touring America when on vacation from Japan. Back in May of this year, we took a trip from Seattle, Washington, down to San Diego, California, and then ended in Austin, Texas,” he said. “We stopped in numerous national and state parks and visited family and friends along the way. Our next trip, we plan to head east to the Smoky Mountains, through New Orleans and returning via Nashville.”??

Kevin is absolutely amazing at his job and being a team player. He has such an in depth understanding of security that allows him to be innovative and proactive to keep everything operating smoothly. We are lucky to have him on our team!
