Hello, my friends!
Today, I share with you another section from my work in progress on the Inner Path.
This piece explores the personal and collective dreaming, and the dreamseeds that form the focal points of our cyclical experience.
I hope you enjoy!
*
"Now, you might ask, if I am dreaming this up, then why am I living this life?
Especially when we are unhappy, or when the life we see is misaligned with the life we consciously desire.
And this is a beautiful question.
Because when we ask why we are creating this situation for ourselves as we are, we turn our sights inward, rather than outward.
We stop blaming the world for our current situations and look at what is within our power, our side of the street.
*
An even better question is, how did I dream my way into exactly this life? And how can I use the same ability to dream in the direction I would like to go?
We can spend years, decades, entire lives, blocking ourselves from living the life we want to live. Playing out unconscious stories and patterns and limits.
Meticulously crafting exactly the life we are living now with countless tiny choices, every action, every breath, even every moment of attention.
We learn things, stories about ourselves and how the world works. We agree to limits and expectations and beliefs.
All the while being persuaded to agreement, aligning our personal dreaming with all of these agreements, not even realizing that every one of them builds and shapes the life we create.
*
So, if we were honest, most of us would find that we live very much the life we feel we have to and that we expect to live. We live the life we feel we deserve. The life we believe in.
Our stories about how the world works and what we are capable of frame all of our perceptions and choices.
We tune in to and gravitate towards the actions and thoughts and emotions which lead to the life that matches our script.
And all of this is playing out on a subconscious level, before our conscious mind enters the equation at all.
*
So the key to working with our dreaming is not found in conscious effort. Rather, we must learn to work within the depths of the subconscious.
We must establish a working relationship between the conscious and subconscious functions of our being.
We must tend our dreamseeds intentionally, so that they automatically guide us in the desired direction.
Once healthy and aligned seeds are planted, then the dream shifts, and we come into resonance with a different experience of life.
And the beautiful thing here is that this is not a matter of conscious effort. It takes less energy than trying to push through and make it happen. And it gets better results.
*
If I were to ask you who you are, you would probably tell me your name.
And, if I were to press for more, you might consider the memories you carry, the people you care for, the roles you perform in life, the places you have been and what all this meant to you.
All of that stuff, all of these stories and relations, this is your personal history.
Each of us has a personal history, and it is meticulously cultivated, regularly reiterated to ourselves, and shaped to our unique perspective.
This could also be called our personality or identity, as it is the network of story and emotion that constitutes the roles we play, to others and ourselves.
*
Our personal history includes both our identity and our story about the world beyond the bubble of our senses. “Who we are” and “the world we perceive” are two sides of the same coin.
Early on in our journey, we believe that we are our personal history, and that this personal history is True. This is what happened. And this is what it meant.
And, while we see ourselves in this way, and the world in this way, then we will necessarily perceive the relationship between self and world in this way.
Really, though, we have written our personal history, crafted a single character out of the infinite range of our potential, framed the world in one specific way.
We have made an unconscious choice to engage with the world in a certain way, and this leads to a certain range of outcomes.
*
Just think about a character, placed in a specific situation. That character will respond as the character does, and they will engage with a specific situation in a specific way.
There is no choice involved. Fixed role meeting fixed circumstance, leading to fixed results.
The character with fixed qualities will have a certain type of experience in any given situation.
Their response to the situation is automatic, and the outcome appears (to the character) as if that’s just the way the world works.
Our personal history, the character and setting we unconsciously write, becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
And we might never realize that it was our personal history that guided us to this point, inexorably and with no active choice in the outcome. (Or contrary to conscious choice.)
So, one of the keys to stepping into our freedom is to review and consciously reframe our personal history.
This helps us to create some wiggle room in our understanding of self and world and how the two relate.
*
In our personal history, there are many moments where we learned lessons about the world. About how it should be, how it would be.
These lessons, these agreements, planted seeds in our mind, tiny expectations that this is how things happen.
And these lessons were forgotten, and sank into the subconscious where they became dreamseeds, unconscious influences that reflect outward into a cycle of repeated experience.
We all have these cyclical lessons that come through time and again, different faces, different circumstances, but the same underlying theme.
And the only way to break the cycle is to go to the core.
We must return to the dreamseed and reclaim our power from it, processing the old stuck emotion there, reconsidering our fixed perspectives, and framing new action.
*
Working with dreamseeds is quite powerful, as it goes right to the heart of our personal dreaming.
All of the situations to which we gravitate in our lives are a result of these seeds that have been planted long ago, and which operate tirelessly in the background to guide our unfolding world.
And, if we can recognize our challenge in the moment and notice that this is an expression of something we carry within, we can use that moment as an opportunity to feel that inner space.
An opportunity to become conscious of the stuck emotions connected with this dreamseed, so we can hold space to process them and release this influence from our field.

An opportunity to see the unconscious stories that we have been playing out, and explore different ways of telling this story to ourselves, making different meaning.
*
So, to recap, dreamseeds are agreements that we made long ago and then forgot about.
And, although they are out of our conscious view, they frame the way we relate with the world, calling the shots from behind the curtains.
Consider any cycle of repeated experience in your life. It might be a habit, or the kind of situations you encounter in relationship, or challenges with money, obstacles to success.
Each of these could be described as a dynamic, a specific way of relating to the world. A specific type of experience.
And with each, the anchor that keeps you cycling is a memory with emotional charge associated with it. An agreement we made about how the world works and what is possible for us.
A dreamseed.
*
Our personal history is a collection of these dreamseeds, and it presents to us both as a sense of identity, personality, and role, and as a view of the entire world which this self inhabits.
This personal history is like a script that we write unconsciously. And it creates the container of our experience.
If your script says that you never achieve success or that you don’t deserve it, then you will experience setbacks and obstacles to success.
The unconscious programming is, in these moments, working against our conscious intentions and desires.
We’re fighting ourselves.
*
Now, it should be made clear that the subconscious is far more powerful than the conscious mind in determining the nature of our experience.
We can work very hard for something, and if our subconscious patterns are working in the opposite direction, all of that effort is countered.
So we get much more benefit by clearing subconscious blockages than we do by expending more conscious effort.
This is the core of magic, and it is a reflection of the incredible creative power we wield all of the time, before and behind our conscious awareness.
To change the outer experience, focus first on the inner experience.
*
Now, both dreamseeds and personal history can be wielded consciously, to create scripts and agreements that actually work for us.
When we consciously renegotiate our personal history, releasing the blockages and stuck energy we encounter along the way, the result is greater freedom, more energy, more clarity.
And when we plant healthy, intentional dreamseeds, we will see them take shape in the world around us.
And a key here is emotion. We are met by the world in the same emotional vibration we carry in our field.
If our script or seeds are fearful, we will have experiences that evoke fear. If our seeds and script are colored by anger, we will encounter conflict and antagonism.
In fact, we can let go of the outer expression of the script and simply focus on the desired emotion, and we will invite experiences into our lives which reflect this emotion.
*
In aboriginal dreamtime healing, from which the term dreamseeds is drawn, each life challenge can be traced to a moment of experience.
We can, through guided journey or self-journey, revisit this moment and transform the dreamseed, processing the emotion and re-envisioning the experience with new eyes.
And, if we are able to do so, then we unlock the cycle and open our personal dreaming into a different, hopefully more aligned, space.
Toltec wisdom offers a similar practice with recapitulation, in which aspects of the personal history are inwardly revisited, renegotiated with the light of new awareness.
*
The deeper human journey goes in stages. And the first stage of awakening is deconstruction. Not learning new things, but letting go of what has been learned and gone unconscious.
It’s all about becoming aware of the hidden stories and learning to reclaim the personal power that locks them in place. So that we can release these patterns from our hearts and minds.
Only after rooting through our personal subconscious and clearing as much of the crap as we can, making a lifestyle out of this inner vigilance, do we progress to the constructive phase.
As we engage in inner refinement, the light of higher awareness and transcendent knowledge begins to shine through on its own.
And at this point, our task is to shape this inspiration into our personal art and offering, aligning it with service in some way meaningful to us and beneficial to the world.
*
Now, while each of us is on our personal journey, we are also taking part in the collective journey. The shared dreams of our culture, our species, our planet, and beyond.
So, as we come together, our dream bubbles merge and we co-create a shared world.
The collective space unfolds as our collective story dictates, aligned with our collective expectations, beliefs, and emotions.
This is the main force used by faith healers and shamans. And it is a natural extension of the personal dreaming into the collective space.
When someone in the tribe was sick and their loved ones were concerned for them, the healing rituals of the shaman wielded their collective energy to aid in their recovery.
Aligning the collective dreaming with the outcome in which they have recovered.
The shaman is one who channels the collective psychic force of the community, aligning the shared dream with the desired outcome.
This collective psychic force can run wild and be quite dangerous. But when our shared dreaming is healthily oriented towards our collective needs, then nothing can stop us.
*
The key to this journey, in both the personal and collective spaces, is personal power.
Personal power is the force that guides our dreaming and the unfoldment of our experience.
When we apply our personal power unconsciously, we do not have a choice in the world we create for ourselves.
And when we do this en masse, the whole world spirals down a path of our deepest impulses.
So, to do the most with this personal journey, to find our freedom and create in alignment with our values, we must learn to reclaim our personal power and apply it in ways that serve us.
Only then can we take responsibility for our relationship with the collective dreaming. Contributing to this shared unfoldment with eyes open."
