January 3rd check-in: euphoria of the new year has receded, resolve is starting to wane, and a bit of melancholy sets in because “nothing’s changed.”
Nothing has changed because the change you seek is within.
So don't abandon your aspirations at this juncture. You're trying to get to that next level this year by being the best version of yourself. 2023 is your year.
But New Year's resolutions run on adrenaline, which is only good for short bursts of enthusiasm; we don’t have an inexhaustible supply.
No, discipline is a more sustainable source of fuel for your dreams.
Don’t expend all your energy chasing goals. Instead, use that wave of adrenaline to establish habits that set the conditions for you to achieve everything you ever wanted in this life – and, importantly, to break the patterns holding you back.
Here’s a simple but effective formula you can follow to get started:
What dreams start, discipline will finish.

2 年Action steps. Talking, writing, texting, sharing your goals with others is essential, but it needs to be followed up with consistent action steps that "you" do. The steps can be small or large, and they will likely change course many times, but the action ("do" something) is crucial.

2 年Very good points. ?? But, there is no life/progress without “dreams”, and there is no “dream” without “Determination” and there is no success without “Discipline”. Even if you are “Chopping wood” just do it…

2 年Theres a relationship going on between three major items that make up who you are, Mind, body, & spirit. Those three things exist at different levels of maturity. They fluxuate when we are bombarded with just simple life stuff. To stay focused I have found that a morning thought or phrase helps to keep them in mind. As well at the end of the day the same. Never take it for granted and stay gratefull.
