Dreams and nightmares around artificial intelligence (A.I.)

Do we stand before the creation of a new lifeform or is technology just becoming more sophisticated?

In summary, I was delighted about the substance of questions and discussions. It is obvious that the topic moves ‘everyone’. One participant, for instance, asked whether it would be easier to influence an A.I. than a human being. We discussed the point and came to the conclusion that it appears to be quite similar. We did not specifically talk about the ability to identify a bias, because this is strongly dependent on the observed situation. Other questions focused on the change in our relationship to labor: the participants were mostly convinced that there will be (at least) a dramatic change in what and how we will work in the future. The initial question re “lifeform” or “sophisticated technology” was discussed controversial: it is strongly dependent on personal preferences, whether “life” is identified or just a complex system is seen. Thus, a lively event created appetite for more.
