Dream With Your Eyes Open

T. E. Lawrence said that some men dream at night while others dream in the daytime. Dreams are lovely and fun but alone they achieve little, to really achieve anything in life, you have to dream with your eyes open. And the dreams of the day take effort, they are not easy like the dreams of the night. But with focus you can achieve a dream.

The archer is a man dreaming with his eyes open. He still rides his fragile bubble but he is looking and working towards his target. I think that dreaming, which is necessary is the easier part. Working towards my dream takes effort it is hard work. The dream is 5% while the hard work that is the rest and that is often frustrating and it is tempting to give up or get distracted. When I stay focued and persist I reach my goal.

Of course these days we can also dream, on the couch in our digital world. Pintrest and Instagram are a form or dreaming which can be inspiring and fantastic but is a huge waste of time if I do nothing with it.

I like the definition of FOCUS which I heard at the recent Deep Dive into Growth here in Cairns, Follow One Course Until Sucessful. When I am stubborn and stick with my goal I get results, its not an easy or a quick fix and often the results fall short of my original dreams, at that point I can evaluate where I want to go next. But it is very satisfying to complete a goal.
