A Dream; Realized
A Dream; Realized! What is this attraction to the sea that inspires and invigorates yet calms the senses? What is this deep yearning for a life by the coast that so many of us chase? As an island nation, our romance with the sea has been ingrained into our very culture. This dream of the perfect home on the waves in time, gave way to, ’The Six’ On the 1st of May 2021, this dream becomes a reality. ‘The Six’ will be officially launched for the construction of six exclusive beach villas, which will be the first of its kind to be ever built in South Asia. The Six, located in Midigama, Sri Lanka, each villa spans over 6000 square feet including four sweeping bedrooms exquisitely designed in taste and textures which will allow individuals to experience ultra luxury beach front living on a grand scale. “Curated, Luxurious and Unique would be the start when it comes to describing this collection of Six. The craftsmanship and use of the finest material ensure that this is a masterpiece in modern living, heralding a quality and level of finish unmatched in Sri Lanka”, the official website of The Six noted. Kumar Sangakkara, Chairman of Crystal Property Group (CPG) stated that, the inspiration behind the project is to provide a personal space or a home that would bring together high-end design elements along with a blend of contemporary and Sri Lankan architecture. What's amazing about this project is that it was conceptualised during conversations amongst friends, who wanted to create something truly unique; an absolutely refined product where people could experience what a home by the sea could truly feel like. Sangakkara went on to say that when they visited the plot of land in Midigama, it had “everything [they] asked for and more in terms of both convenience and proximity”. He further emphasized, “We were inspired by our travel, we were inspired by our conversations and we were inspired by the location to build the Six in Midigama”. Role An impressive note about The Six is that every single stakeholder in the project is personally invested in it and is carrying more responsibilities than their job roles describe. Commenting on this, Sangakkara said, “Creating spaces and structures that we have a lot of passion for; that's how it began, that's how we will proceed in terms of the ethos of CPG. That's what motivates us. Finding unique locations, creating beautiful products and exceeding standards”. Sangakkara explained that the team spends “a lot of time researching not only market data but also the customers.” The human aspect is very important because CPG is looking to, “create spaces that are thoughtful and full of life” and cater to the needs and wants of their clientele. How does it stand out? Being a prominent tourist destination, Sri Lanka is home to a variety of hotels, villas, and resorts for both local and international travellers; what makes The Six unique in comparison to their existing competitors? Having a beachfront property is an attraction in itself, and the close proximity of Weligama and Ahangama, which have some of the best surf spots in the country bodes well. Additionally, the architecture and design elements within The Six are inspired by beaches around the world including Bali, Greece, Italy, Spain, and Australia. It takes into consideration different textures and colour palettes and combines them to create something truly remarkable. For example, the villa named AMED has a quiet dark interior reflecting the black volcanic sand of Amed beach in Indonesia. This attention to detail and level of individuality and curation giving each villa its own personality makes The Six the first of its kind. Convenience is an important detail carried out by CPG. Everything from furnishing the villas, managing them, providing security, as well as centralized services is taken care of by the operative team hence providing a stress-free environment to the clientele. “We are very detail-oriented, we want the finishing to be immaculate, and we take a lot of pride in under-promising and over-delivering. That is how we want to make this an absolutely unique prospect,” Sangakkara said. Adding further he said that there are no other properties on the south coast that provide a similar product nor service, which gives CPG confidence and a clear competitive advantage. Partnership The Six has collaborated with Teardrop Hotels to ensure that the villa is delivered Fully Serviced with a Private Chef, Butler and Concierge Services for its buyers. Accordingly, they will be providing management services in terms of maintenance, rental yields, as well as running these villas under their brand. They will also be in mutual understanding with how the contracts are carried out between the owners and management groups. Commenting further, Sangakkara said that Teardrop Hotels are one of the most excellent in the industry and have a great reputation and track record when it comes to providing impeccable service. “We're really looking forward to their partnership and I think it's a great benefit for our customers”, he added. Execution The Six is expected to reach completion by December 2022. Each Villa, sitting on top of approximately 40 perches of land is truly turnkey. It comes fully furnished and equipped with blue-chip facilities and amenities. Each villa comes with its personal heated swimming pool and palatial outer deck. It also offers a Wellness Centre, Spa and Fitness Spaces for Yoga and Barre at the Central Building. Sangakkara states that the contractors will be handpicked locals due to the availability of great skilled people at home who would be able to deliver the excellence required. “We are also very mindful about job creation for local contractors. We are looking to keep that as a strong part of our mission and are very confident that we have the talent that can deliver to the expected standard.” Already a success? As of today (3), three villas out of six have already been sold. “We had a great reception and we are very encouraged by that as well; it backs up all the details and the research which has gone into this project beforehand”. Sangakkara expressed that buyers are approached in a very personal manner, “we have face to face sit down meetings, a very detailed and a precise presentation method which is also quite unique in terms of how we relate to the customer and how we ask them to relate to us and the project”. Future plans For CPG’s future plans, Sangakkara said that identifying and developing unique concepts in Sri Lankan locations will always continue. Excluding the project, there is a holistic development solution going to be implemented in order to change the real estate landscape in Sri Lanka. “It’s going to create so many jobs and foreign investment for the country as a whole and we are planning to launch later this year”. Adding to this note, Sangakkara said that unique ideas and developments are something they don't ever want to compromise, “we build that into our corporate culture as well to understand that this is what we look to build in terms of excellence, and we will keep creating these unique concepts as we go along in future”. Conclusion The team behind CPG consists of industry veterans, economists, designers and architects of the highest calibre. “We have the expertise within our company to provide what we want to achieve and build for our customers. Hence, we are very confident in terms of the support that we have. It’s been inspiring as many people have come to us and validated our concepts and products.”
