A Dream En Route to Jaffna: Witnessing the Rise of an IT Hub

As I journeyed from Kurunegala to Jaffna on an overnight AC bus, I had a dream—a vision of Jaffna transforming into Sri Lanka's number-one IT hub over the next decade. Little did I know that today, as I attend Yarl Dreamin'24 at the Jaffna Cultural Centre, I am already experiencing the first hints of that dream becoming a reality.
The atmosphere here is electric. The scent of innovation, collaboration, and growth fills the air as young tech enthusiasts and seasoned professionals gather to share knowledge, inspire ideas, and push boundaries. Once primarily known for its rich cultural heritage, Jaffna is now steadily positioning itself as a burgeoning tech hub. The energy and passion on display today signal a promising future, and I am honored to witness the beginning of what could be a transformative era for the region.
The event has brought together thought leaders and visionaries from across the country, showcasing that Jaffna is not just dreaming big—it’s laying the foundation to make those dreams a reality. From emerging startups to groundbreaking technological solutions, Jaffna is on a path to becoming a significant player in Sri Lanka’s IT landscape.
As I reflect on my dream from the bus, I realize that what once seemed like a distant vision is already beginning to take shape. Jaffna is rising, and the future of Sri Lanka's IT industry may very well be led from here.
