The Dreaded ATS Scanner
July 31, 1991. The day I thought humanity learned. The day we found out in the classic movie Terminator 2 that if we gave machines self-awareness, they would take over. Fast forward to 2020 and we have given machines the power to determine who is worthy of an interview and who isn't. It's a shame but it's a fact of life. The great news for you is, I am your good guy T-800 Arnold Schwarzenegger. I found some help from the least likely of places...a machine. Come with me if you want to live (with a new job).
In case you weren't familiar, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) are software programs that scan resume content and use an algorithm to search for keywords. The keywords look for certain skills, education, prior work experience and even former employers. The ATS filter which resumes will go on to the next round of the hiring process. You need to beat these systems and I think I found something that can help. It's called Jobscan. It allows you to upload your resume and a job listing and scans both using the ATS system. It tells you all of the things your resume is missing pertinent to that job, such as keywords, dates, favorite way to cook bacon, etc.
The best part is, you can get a free month for free. Because I believe in each and every one of my LinkedIn connections, I don't think any of you will need more than a month because you are all good enough, smart enough and doggone it, people like you. Get scanning and let's beat those bad Terminators.

4 年This is legitimately a problem. I've had hiring managers tell me to apply for a job, as they thought I'd be a great fit for their team, etc, only to have the generic rejection form letter 2 minutes after I submitted my application.
