Thank you to Weichert, Realtors for being one of JBWS' earliest and largest donors for our Holiday Boutique! They hosted a Christmas in July toy drive and donated about 20 bags of presents for people impacted by abuse. Huge thanks to Suzanne and Mary for their role in supporting JBWS!

Founded in 1976, JBWS celebrates 45 years of offering hope and safety to victims of domestic violence and their families. Our mission is the prevention of domestic violence through the protection and empowerment of the victim, the rehabilitation of family members, the advocacy of social reform to prevent partner violence, and the education of the public about domestic violence and its consequences. Services include a 24-hour helpline (973-267-4763), safe house, transitional living, counseling, children's services, batterers' intervention, vocational counseling and more. Additionally, JBWS is the lead partner agency for the Morris Family Justice Center, a coordinated, one-stop resource provided by multiple service agencies and led by JBWS. Our vision is to create a community-wide culture that refuses to tolerate the presence of any form of family or partner violence. JBWS is a private, nonprofit, tax-exempt agency based in Morris County, NJ. To learn more about JBWS' critical mission, visit www.jbws.org or call 973-267-7520.

Thank you to Vidya Mohan for supporting JBWS through her creativity and incredible artistic talent! She chose to donate 50% of the proceeds from her art display, located at Whippanong Library, to JBWS! She uses a variety of mediums to produce these works of art including watercolor, acrylic, pen and ink, and charcoal. Vidya seeks to evoke the sense of peace and presence we experience in nature through her art. Thank you so much for supporting JBWS in such a unique and creative way!

900 people impacted by abuse receive support through JBWS' Holiday Project each year. However, we are only able to help this many people due to the generosity of individual donors, civic organizations, corporations, and community groups. There is still time to support JBWS' Holiday Project! Find our Amazon WishList here: https://lnkd.in/eNrB3Kbm or visit https://lnkd.in/eDZr5Qw2 to learn more

Did you know that you could be experiencing domestic violence even if your partner never physically harms you? Emotional abuse can damage a person's sense of identity, hurt their self-worth, and make them doubt their reality. However, because there are no physical signs of emotional abuse, it can be difficult to recognize. Dr. Danielle Graddick, PsyD. joins this episode of Unsilenced: Real Conversations About Abuse to discuss how we can identify emotional abuse, how minimization is used to control people experiencing abuse, and how control can be masked as concern. Sydney Pentland from Vital Breathwork LLC ran a wonderful workshop for our staff in one of JBWS' wellness rooms! Participants were led through an hour of breathwork, somatic movement, and meditation. We are thankful for our W.I.S.H. Wellness Initiative which provides us the opportunity to bring programs such as this to staff and clients.

Some people who are experiencing abuse might be ashamed that they weren't able to identify those behaviors. However, abuse can be insidious and difficult to recognize. It can make you question your self-worth and doubt yourself. Anna Kendrick's comments on the Call Her Daddy podcast highlight the need for more nuanced conversations about abuse. Maddie Hahn, the manager of JBWS' Dating Abuse Prevention Program, came on our podcast to discuss all elements of Anna's episode. Listen now: https://lnkd.in/enfJQyfF
