Rebels in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo have established authority over the Rubaya coltan-mining area, where they have imposed a production tax calculated to yield approximately $300,000 in revenue each month, as reported by the United Nations Security Council. Kamoa-Kakula complex and Kipushi achieves strong outputs in Q3 2024 amid challenges

In the third quarter of 2024, the Kamoa-Kakula complex achieved record results, producing 116,313 tonnes of copper in concentrate, with the phase 3 concentrator in full ramp-up. At the same time, Kipushi produced 17,817 tonnes of zinc in concentrate during the quarter.

Kamoa-Kakula's production guidance range for 2024 has been adjusted to 425,000 - 450,000 tonnes of copper and Kipushi's to 50,000 - 70,000 tonnes of zinc following power supply disruptions and various challenges encountered during the ramp-up phase. Learn more.
