  • Drax contributes $1 billion towards Canadian economy:?????

Independent analysis, conducted by one of Canada’s leading professional services and research firms, MNP LTD , measures the economic impact of our Canadian operations in 2023. The report finds that in 2023, Drax contributed $1 billion towards the Canadian economy, supported over 3,000 jobs and contributed $372 million to Canadian GDP.?

Cruachan Power Station has been a part of the landscape for almost 60 years. With our ambitious plans to build a second underground pumped storage hydro plant at Cruachan, we will continue supporting our communities for generations to come, while protecting energy security and decarbonisation.?

  • The UK is importing more electricity than ever:???

The Q2 2024 Electric Insights report provides the latest insights on the UK’s electricity grid, consumption and trends, including that wind power is now Britain’s single largest source of electricity generation and that electricity imports have reached record levels.?

  • Drax Community Fund’s latest round of funding:???

Our Community Fund has awarded grant funding to 48 organisations local to our operations across the UK.??

This includes over £9,000 to 12 organisations in Scotland, as well as £22,000 to 30 organisations near Drax Power Station in Yorkshire. These donations will help fund community-led projects which support STEM education and skills, promote safety and help to benefit communities.?

  • Over 100 businesses attend Cruachan Expansion event:???

We hosted a Cruachan Expansion Project event in collaboration with NOF in Scotland, which was attended by over 100 businesses, prospective suppliers and local community members.??

The event provided an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the wider benefits the Cruachan Expansion Project will deliver across the UK.?
