  • Raising the standard in carbon removals: a methodology for BECCS???

We need to reduce emissions and rapidly scale the market for high-integrity, sustainable CDRs. Putting the required standards and governance into place to build a resilient and trustworthy carbon removals market is a core part of that. Our partnership with Stockholm Exergi and EcoEngineers has developed a world-leading methodology to ensure the integrity of BECCS CDRs.

  • Lord Callanan, Minister for Energy Efficiency and Green Finance, visits the Humber region ??

During a visit to the Humber last week, Lord Callanan started the day with a tour of Drax Power Station, learning about our plans for BECCS and meeting a team of Drax apprentices. Following the tour, Members of the Humber Energy Board and local MPs then met with Lord Callanan at ABP’s Immingham Port to discuss the wider plans for the Humber region and the opportunity for decarbonisation and transformation by developing a CCS cluster.??

  • Launch of a new independent research report on UK Cluster potential??????

‘How the UK can lead the world in Carbon Capture and Storage’, produced by Development Economics highlights the socio-economic potential of developing carbon capture and storage clusters in the UK, with a spotlight on the Humber cluster.?

  • Verge23 climate tech event ??

This week, Drax attended Trellis Group 's Verge23 in the US, where we met with other businesses and leaders in the climate space to discuss the solutions helping to shape our net zero future. Both our SVP of Business Development, Marc Bradbrook , and our Head of Carbon Removals Origination, Gianni Spinelli had speaking slots during the event, highlighting the role of carbon removals.

  • Setting the standard for carbon removals: a guide for customers???

Alongside the new BECCS methodology, we also recently published a guide to understanding and using high-integrity carbon credits, including those associated with BECCS. This document aims to help organisations understand the principles of a high-integrity carbon credit, and to give you the right information, so you can invest with confidence.

  • USIPA conference 2023???

Members of the Drax team also attended USIPA’s annual conference in Miami, where Drax CEO, Will Gardiner, delivered the keynote address on the role of carbon removals using bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) technology in delivering net zero. During the speech he stated Drax’s pivotal position, saying “We aim to lead the world in carbon removal with BECCS’?

  • Drax announces a new partnership with Science World???

This week, we announced that we’ve partnered with Glasgow Science Centre in Scotland and Science World in Canada as part of our commitment to supporting STEM educational outreach in and around the communities we operate in.??


Upcoming Events???

We are looking forward to attending COP28 UAE later in November. The event will be a milestone moment for businesses, world leaders and policy makers to take stock of the world’s progress on the Paris Agreement climate targets. Ahead of COP28, as part of the Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders, Drax CEO Will Gardiner signed an open letter to call upon world leaders and governments to scale up investment in global climate action to accelerate the race towards net zero.??
