The first caveat here is sustainable which is say probably fits the simplest definition. Trees use co2 to grow and the. We burn the trees. This misses out the transport costs, shipping costs, train costs etc and the ecological costs of stripping forests on a different continent and burn now and wait 100 years for the trees to grow back. So a deeper version of sustainable it does not meet
