Drawing Live from 2020 Millrose Games

This weekend, I had the great fortune of attending the 2020 Millrose Games at the Armory Track and Field Center in the Bronx. Not only was it exciting because the Millrose Games is one of the oldest and most prestigious annual running events in the world, but it was also a rare experience being a reportage illustrator in the press and having such close access to draw history-defining moments.

True to its reputation, the 2020 Games saw champions rise and records fall as one electric event followed another. The highlights include a searing 4:16 mile and new American record by Elinor Purrier; a repeat American record by Donavan Brazier in the men's 800m with a time of 1:44:22; and another 800m American record by Ajee Wilson in the woman's race.

Drawing live from the infield was an incredible experience. I will post more work and reflections from the event soon.
