Draw Updates: British Columbia and Prince Edward Island issue PNP nominations

This week, British Columbia (BC) and Prince Edward Island (PEI) issued invitations.

All Canadian provinces and territories, except Nunavut and Quebec, have a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). The PNP selects and invites skilled immigrants to their regions. Each provincial government selects these immigrants carefully. They focus on the candidates' expertise to tackle the region's labour market and demographic challenges.

Quebec, the only French-majority province in Canada, has its own unique immigration policies. This results in a special agreement with IRCC, exempting Quebec from running its own PNP.

Provincial immigration outcomes from April 13 to April 19 are as follows:

British Columbia

British Columbia held several provincial immigration draws during the week. They all happened on April 16, 2024.

The first draw under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) issued a total of 39 invitations. It was a general draw for candidates from five streams:

  1. Skilled Worker
  2. Skilled Worker – Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) option
  3. International Graduate
  4. International Graduate – EEBC option
  5. Entry Level and Semi-Skilled

All candidates needed a minimum score of 132, except for one stream. Moreover, those in the BCPNP's Entry Level and Semi-Skilled category required a score of at least 107.

The BCPNP recently held four extra draws for Skilled Worker and International Graduate candidates. These draws spanned four sectors and issued over 40 invitations.

  1. 12 invitations were sent to candidates for childcare jobs. They required a minimum score of 92.
  2. 10 invitations were given to candidates in construction jobs. These jobs require a minimum score of 97.
  3. 18 invitations were offered to candidates in healthcare. They needed a minimum score of 92.
  4. Less than five invitations were granted to candidates in veterinary care. They need a minimum score of 80.

Prince Edward Island

On April 18, the PEI Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) sent 82 invitations. These targeted labour and Express Entry candidates in four distinct sectors: healthcare, manufacturing, construction, and traditional.
