Drastic But Not Dramatic Transformation is Before Us
"We are not facing the digital transformation. We are in the middle of it”, said Ivaylo Slavov, CEO, BULPROS and AmChamBulgaria Board Member during the Panel “The future is here: open data, artificial intelligence, robots of the 1st Plovdiv Economic Forum, June 22nd, 2018. "In fact, connectivity and infrastructure were the main issues this process to start back in 1990s."
Today’s reality is this: connectivity provides access to the global market, added Slavov.
Data will grow dramatically in terms of quality, quantity, and of types of data. Public private partnership is the only chance to deal with data. Also, I would like to discuss the idea of transforming the United Nations as organization. Today governments are too slow, companies are too big to act. Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence leads to another set of data.
“Collaboration and public private partnerships are key elements of sustainable growth.” – said Iva Todorova, IBM Bulgaria, Government and Regulatory Affairs Executive, and AmCham BoD Member.
“Data, Artificial intelligence, and people are the three drivers for change in the legislations and in businesses. Immensity of data does not make the change. The possibility of insights about data makes the change. Only 20% of the data is structured and manageable by normal computers, the other 80% of the data is unstructured or dark and that data could be managed by AI systems and could bring value to its owners. That change brought by cognitive systems leads to new learning, that leads to outlearn the others. That is the ultimate competitive advantage. That is why we have to refer to these systems as augmenting human intelligence, enhancing human expertise and skills, not replacing them. AI cannot and will not replace human decision-making, judgment, intuition or morality."
The bottom line here is how we as humans, business leaders and policy makers build a strong ethical platform for the development and implementation of AI systems in order to build trust and to preserve it. We clearly need to be on front line in winning society’s trust on AI. That is why, we at IBM coded 3 clear principles for the era of AI around Purpose, Transparency and Skills. The skills agenda is crucial – right education and skills are needed to prepare for this new AI era, so that no one is left behind and create inclusive economy,” – concluded Ms. Todorova.
