FFB Newsalert - AfroTech Report

As was alluded to last week, FFB C team member Justin was fortunate enough to attend AfroTech this year! Over the course of the conference, attendees were fortunate enough to be able to hear talks from personalities like Issa Rae, gain knowledge from industry professionals on many different topics including AI, connect with like minded people and explore the beautiful city of Austin. Justin said his favorite part of the conference was connecting with others from all different backgrounds, hearing their stories and making connections. He also enjoyed gaining knowledge in fields he was less familiar with but also wanted to mention he definitely enjoyed the Texas BBQ as well. Check out some of the photos Justin took on his travels!

TOP SONGS OF THE WEEK

  • PinkPantheress→ Another life ft. Rema: UK artist PinkPantheress has just released a new album. The singer rose to prominence earlier this year for her collaboration with Ice Spice on Boy`s a Liar, Pt. 2. He has followed the publicity up with a release with afrobeats artist Rema for one of my favorite tracks of the week.
  • Rick Ross & Meek Mill → Star Island: Renowned rappers Rick Ross and Meek Mill teamed up for an album recently. Both rappers play off of each other very well but a highlight has to be Star Island.
  • Asake & H.E.R → Lonely At The Top (Remix): Nigerian AfroBeats superstar Asake, has teamed up with California born R&B singer H.E.R to give us a remix of his song Lonely At The Top. Asake, who this year was nominated for the Best International Act at the BET Awards and was ranked number 5 on the Rolling Stone Future Music 25, is coming off of his hugely popular second album, Work of Art. This song definitely brings out the best in both artists.
