Drain of bright minds from companies

Drain of bright minds from companies

Hello, friends! In our thirteenth article, we will talk about the wise leader and the main challenges he faces.

In today's article, we will discuss the brain drain from companies. It is known that talent loss can be costly for companies, so we will take a look at how the wise leader can avoid this problem and provide solutions for it.

Sometimes, companies face problems and disruptions that may affect their productivity and annual income, which makes them think of ways to avoid losses. One of these ways is to cut expenses through a wave of layoffs and forced terminations to save their salaries and provide a budget for some departments in the company. This method may be a quick solution to perhaps cover the company's deficit, but in my opinion, it is the beginning of a bad end. Here, in this case, the company terminated the services of the least efficient and productive employees, in other words, it terminated the weakest and retained the strongest. But the problem lies in the aftermath of this severe wave of layoffs, as a cloud of discomfort and general anxiety pervades the company's employees. The constant question remains: Will I be the next person to have my services terminated?

A wave of layoffs usually accompanies a wave of resignations, which we will call today "brain drain" which simply means that outstanding individuals in the company will feel anxious and doubt the management's ability to navigate this storm. Therefore, they will search for another place where they can express their talents and great ideas easily and without any embarrassment. They will resign shortly after. Here, the alarm bell rings for companies because they either have to tempt bright minds with money or privileges to stay, which is contrary to the austerity measures they took by terminating the services of dozens because of it, or they will do without these bright minds, and the company will be in turmoil.

One of the worst events that a leader may face is to remain with his weakest team members or those who need training and time to become stronger because of his recklessness and the mistakes he makes. Frankly, this situation is not enviable, and there is no magical solution for it, but it can be avoided and prevented with care and intelligence. The leader must fight not to lose the strong ones.

In case the company faces financial difficulties, the main reasons should be sought and explained to the employees so that they are convinced of what will happen in the future. And remember, leader, in your dialogues with the team, you claim that you are one family and one entity. Does a father abandon his children because of poverty? Therefore, be careful not to become a liar in the eyes of your employees. It will take you a lifetime to regain their trust, and you won't be able to do so. We will talk in future articles about how the wise leader inspects the main problems and roots that cause the company's collapse.

There are hundreds of companies that have ended up because of the brain drain, as the process of building a strong team is a process that extends for years, and breaking the trust that causes the brain drain is a terrible and horrific thing. No matter how wise and strong the leader is, he cannot progress without a team. It is impossible.

"If you see the strong ones leaving peacefully from your side, know for sure that you are beginning to slide violently into the abyss."

I hope to hear your comments on this topic and to talk to me more about the dangers of brain drain. In the next article, we will discuss how to search for the roots of problems for repair, taking the brain drain as an example and its main causes.
