Dr. Reinhardt, a Republican With Heart
Paul Reinhardt
Candidate Florida State House of Representatives District 34, Republican
Responding to a Citrus County Chronicle Letter To The Editor:
A letter to the editor dated March 20, 2019 by a Mr. Farrenholz titled "Disappointed by party switch" states since I am now a Republican I am no longer on the side of the poor. I must respond.
I was raised in a New York City public housing project(it is interesting Senator Scott was also raised in public housing). I went on to study to be a physician and surgeon in several of our nation's prestigious teaching hospitals which ironically served indigent populations in some of our most crime ridden areas. I went on to serve on medical mercy missions to poverty stricken areas of Haiti and Mexico.
The position of Superintendent of Schools pays an annual salary of over 128,000 dollars. Due to the number of our students that find it hard to even get decent nutritious meals I find myself forced to do what I can. If elected I will donate half of the salary to our school breakfast and lunch program that helps feed this county's neediest students. I wanted to release this news further in the race but the Farrenholz letter prompted that it be expedited.
