Democracy is failling to deliver growth certainly by laying the good foundations through INCLUSIVE institutions (guarantying to a certain degree the particip[ation of the majority of the population), governance, rule of law, stability and confidence for investors to invest.?Autocracy promotes also growth but it will not be sustainable because it is done through EXCLUSIVE institutions (example of the USSR), while democracy promote sustainable growth.Refer to the book "Why Nations fail" by Acemoglu and Robinson

Very very interesting, in particular the point on the voting system...we are living in a crisis of representative democracy and a more direct democracy is needed, going back to Greek democracy, either with sortition like in Jury system (see here the proposition of my friend David Grant https://thecommonlot.com/) or using internet, like 5 Star Movement to which I belong is doing in my country (probably winning elections in 2 months)
