Dr. Jordan Spiess of Bryan, OH Receives AEG’s Optometric Excellence Award for September

Dr. Spiess, a graduate of The Ohio State University, specializes in ocular disease and family optometry. Since joining the Northwest Ohio Vision Center, he has distinguished himself through his professionalism, adaptability, and compassionate approach to patient care. Over the past several months, Dr. Spiess has split his time between multiple offices, adapting seamlessly to different teams, equipment, and workflows. His colleagues have praised him for his willingness to support his team, his clear communication, and his dedication to patient care.

One recent example of Dr. Spiess's exceptional patient care involved an elderly woman who arrived at the clinic after a serious fall, suffering from significant facial injuries, including an orbital floor fracture. Upon receiving the call, Dr. Spiess immediately adjusted his schedule to accommodate the patient, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to care. When she arrived, he personally met with her and her daughter-in-law in the reception area, taking the time to explain the procedures involved in her visit and, most importantly, ensuring her comfort and minimizing any pain during the examination process. Dr. Spiess dedicated considerable time and attention to her initial and follow-up visits, leaving a lasting impression of compassion and professionalism that the patient deeply appreciated. Practice Manager Andrea Granger remarked, “Meeting the patient in their moment of need and sitting down in an honest and relatable way is just who Dr. Spiess is.”

As a Bryan, Ohio, native, he remains actively involved in the local community, supporting initiatives such as the Bryan Athletic Boosters and attending local sporting events. He is also an active member of both the American Optometric Association (AOA) and the Ohio Optometric Association (OOA).
