Dr. Jeremy Wade Anderson Honored with AEG’s January Optometric Excellence Award

AEG Vision is proud to announce Dr. Jeremy Wade Anderson, O.D., F.A.A.O., of Anderson Eye Care in Manchester, TN, as the recipient of the January 2024 Optometric Excellence Award. Dr. Anderson’s dedication to patient care, team support, and community involvement exemplifies the qualities celebrated by this prestigious recognition.

Dr. Anderson’s approach to patient care is unparalleled, as highlighted by his nominator, Tiffany Fann, Practice Manager at Anderson Eye Care. “I have never met or worked with a doctor like Dr. Anderson,” Fann shared. “He ensures that patients receive top-notch, timely care, going above and beyond to address their needs.” Dr. Anderson’s commitment includes staying after hours, returning to the office on weekends, and personally addressing emergencies to ensure his patients’ comfort and well-being.

One memorable example of his dedication involved a patient with a metal fragment in their eye. Despite being out for dinner, Dr. Anderson arranged to meet the patient at the office at 8:00 p.m. to remove the fragment and alleviate the patient’s pain. This act of compassion resonated deeply, with the patient’s family publicly expressing their gratitude on social media.

Beyond patient care, Dr. Anderson is a cornerstone of his team. Fann noted his willingness to train staff, refresh skills, and collaborate for the benefit of the entire practice. “He is always looking out for what will benefit everyone,” she said. His supportive nature extends to his peers, as he frequently advises fellow optometrists on complex cases.

Dr. Anderson’s influence reaches far beyond his practice. A Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO), he is part of an elite group representing only 10% of practicing optometrists. He has contributed to professional growth through teaching at the Southern College of Optometry (SCO), his alma mater, and presenting at national conferences, including the American Academy of Optometry’s annual meeting.

In his community, Dr. Anderson partners with organizations such as the Lions Club, Blue Monarch, and One Day of Hope to provide free eye exams to underserved populations. These initiatives underscore his commitment to making eye care accessible to those in need.

Dr. Anderson’s path to excellence began with an honors undergraduate degree from Pittsburg State University. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from SCO, where he was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa honor society. Following his doctorate, he completed a residency in ocular disease at the Kansas City VA Medical Center, gaining extensive training in glaucoma, diabetic eye care, cataracts, and low vision rehabilitation.

Dr. Anderson’s unwavering dedication to his patients, team, and community has earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and patients alike.
