Adam D. Fried, Ed.D.
Education Innovative Leader ~ Ast. Dean at Ramapo College of New Jersey -School District Superintendent ~ Northern Superintendent of the Year
On behalf of the Harrington Park Board of Education, it is our great pleasure to announce that Dr. Adam Fried has been selected as the New Jersey Association of School Administrators (NJASA) Northern Regional Superintendent of the Year! Another privileged award for Dr. Fried came earlier this year when he was selected as Bergen County’s Superintendent of the Year.
Dr. Fried was appointed Harrington Park Superintendent in 2006. He began his career in education 23 years ago as a Middle-School Teacher in Ridgefield Park. He later became Principal and then Director of Education in Hawthorne. Dr. Fried earned his Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from Seton Hall University and his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Iona College.
During Dr. Fried’s tenure as Superintendent of the Harrington Park School District, he has overseen the successful implementation of numerous sustainable change initiatives that radically transformed the learning culture of the district while increasing student achievement and staff engagement. Dr. Fried has received numerous awards and acknowledgements for his work as a professional educator. He is a Jefferson Award winner, Member of the NJASA and BCASA Executive Boards and an Educational Technology Panelist. Dr. Fried has established the Leadership Institute as well as the Northern Ignite Cluster for Bergen County administrators, school leaders, and teachers. He has been instrumental in securing millions of dollars for the district by ways of being awarded NJ state grants as well as developing large consortiums as cost saving measures for the district. Dr. Fried is also a pedagogical leader for staff through a research based evaluation model, which has been recognized and soon to be State level approved, as a best practice for the NJ Department of Education. Dr. Fried’s leadership, critical thinking and interpersonal skills along with the commitment of the faculty and staff allow the district to “Lead the Way” in providing the best education for the children of Harrington Park.
Each regional winner was judged on the qualifications of a minimum of five years experience as a chief education officer, a record of service within their respective county affiliate and NJASA and a distinguished record as an educator. NJASA Executive Director Dr. Richard G. Bozza said, "All three regional superintendents are excellent role models for all aspiring chief education officers to emulate. They are results-oriented educators who continually strive to improve the quality of education for all students they serve."
Congratulations to Dr. Fried! This is a wonderful honor as he continues to “Lead the Way” for the Harrington Park School District.
Sincerely,
The Harrington Park Board of Education
