Dr Emmanuel Zaganiaris, in memory
Dimitrios Grekas
Production Planning and Logistics Manager at Tottis Foods International S.A.
Dr Emmanuel (Manos) Zaganiaris is no longer with us. He departed this life on Monday,?December 2,?2019.
Emmanuel?was born into a?scientific family.?His father Ioannis N. Zaganiaris was the first Professor of Industrial Chemistry at the Chemical Department of Athens University and his mother Sapfo Katsiyannaki was the first woman who graduated from the Chemical Department of Athens University.
Emmanuel Zaganiaris graduated in 1962 with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
In 1965, after fulfilling his military obligations, Emmanuel went to the USA. He?received his Ph.D. in Polymers?from?Princeton University in 1970. Then he joined the Research Laboratories of Rohm and Haas Company in Spring House, Pa. In 1975, the year of his father’s death, he moved to France and joined the European Laboratories of Rohm and Haas in Valbonne and later at Chauny.
Since 1992 apart from his research work he had been responsible for technical support to customers and to the sales and marketing team involved in the special applications of ion exchange resins and adsorbents. He travelled worldwide giving solutions to the industries.
He retired in 2006 to become a consultant for?Dow Chemical Company.
For his extensive contribution to ion exchange in 2012 he received the Ion Exchange Award of the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI), a global acknowledgement.

After retirement he wrote and published 3 books:
-???????Ion Exchange Resins and Synthetic Adsorbents in Food Processing?(6 Dec. 2011)
-???????Ion Exchange Resins and Adsorbents in Chemical Processing (31 Aug. 2016)

?The last four years he worked as a volunteer at Chauny Hospital Library for library maintenance and loaning books to patients and at Restaurants du Coeur for distribution of food to needy people.
?Even if Dr Emmanuel Zaganiaris did not follow an academic career, in fact, he was a Professor in the Industry, a great teacher, a brilliant researcher, an excellent scientist. Always willing to teach his colleagues all over the world, and to travel tirelessly long distances in order to exchange ideas and knowledge on his scientific fields. But apart from his outstanding expertise, as long as I live, I will remember him as a modest, noble, good-hearted person and an affectionate family man.
