DPD trusts Ford Pro to expand its electric fleet with 80 new E-Transits

In both life and business, finding an equally minded collaborator to achieve your goals is indispensable.

That’s why we at Ford Pro are proud to announce that DPD will be adding 80 E-Transits to its 100% electric fleet, which will deliver to 14 Portuguese cities by the end of the year.

This agreement will not only satisfy DPD’s goal of reaching a milestone 287 electric vehicles – 35% of its total fleet – but help us in our own objective, one that is very important to me and Ford Pro as a whole – achieving net zero emissions in all our vehicles sold in the region and carbon footprint neutrality in all facilities, logistics and suppliers by 2035.[GR(1]?[SJ2]?

Like Ford Pro, DPD is an industry-leading company. In 2023 alone, DPD delivered 2.1 billion parcels worldwide, and began the process of decarbonising its fleet in 2019 with the incorporation of 55 electric vehicles in Lisbon – with the end goal of complete net zero emissions by 2040.[GR(3]?

DPD is aware of the environmental impact of its activity and the delivery sector as a whole and is therefore committed to being at the forefront of sustainability” says Olivier Establet, CEO of DPD Portugal.

Now in its third wave of decarbonisation, DPD turned to us at Ford Pro and invested in the E-Transit – bringing the total number of electric vehicles in its fleet from 207 to 287

As the best-selling electrified 2tn commercial vehicle in 2023,[GR(4]? the E-Transit was an easy choice for DPD’s further investment into the electric vehicle market. With more than 300 kilometres of autonomy after charging and up to 15.1 m3 of load capacity, the E-Transit enables companies like DPD to meet sustainability targets without losing one degree of performance.

Additionally, our “Vans In The City” study carried out by Ford Pro and Reuters in 2023 found other benefits to fleet electrification beyond just reducing carbon emissions.

The study found that switching to electric commercial vehicles could reduce both congestion in cities and operational costs for SMEs in Europe. According to a report commissioned by Ford Pro by the Cebr, an SME could be almost €15,000 better off with an EV van than a diesel after just three years.

DPD will be rolling out the 80 E-Transits across Portugal’s major cities by the end of year – Lisbon, Porto, Seixal, Guarda, Coimbra, évora, Viseu, Leiria, Faro and Funchal.

Together, DPD and Ford Pro can not only mutually benefit each other’s sustainability targets, but also help change the way domestic express transport is conducted throughout Europe.

Another excuse to delay or not deliver the clients orders! Now it will be the charging time! Until now it Was the adress incorrect or technical problems! It is really the worst delivery Company operating in Portugal.

Sustainability without compromising on performance... not just a future thing, it's the reality right now for those investing in the E-Transit.
